As fusionlad said, ITV1 did the same. At the start of the second break they held the programme on for too long and then cut the end of the sponsorhsip sting off. Did STV do the same?

EDIT: More interestingly, what did STV do during the break down? What about UTV?

we just sshow the ITV1, but within 3 sec it went to blue STV screen with " normal programmers will resume shortly"

Lost the feed from Australia so had a breakdown caption with an apology for about 15 seconds.

Problems tonight again break cock up earlier and now problems with transmision. Well done ITV

There have been a few techincal errors in tonights program already.

First break cut in too soon;
Second break also cut in too early;
Just had a break in the programme with a green then black screen.

As the playout is done in Aus then I'm sure it's just a satelitte link though. But as ITV1 are also 2 minutes BEHIND schedule tonight this might also have something to do with it as the UK automated playout system will have scheduled the commercials and Aus won't be ready for it.

On ITV1 we got a female CA telling us they would go back to the programme as soon as possible and she was subtitled. When they went back there were a few more flashes and picture/sound drop outs.

What do you expect them to do? There's only so much they can do to try and prevent things like this happening - like spending a small fortune on measures to combat it all going down. I think 15 seconds is impressive to get it up and running again.

I imagine changes to playout scheduling would have been anticipated though, what with X Factor preceding the show.

Didn't get the CA on Freesat!

Well, that is odd. I was watching on Meridian South. Was anyone else watching ITV1 in the North and did you get the continuity announcer?
