I wonder if the Australian version will go ahead in South Africa. Or if they’ll move it to the UK site in Australia. Although the Australian version possibly goes out about the same time as the German version that uses the one in Australia but they’re likely to not use that set for the same reasons.
Im not sure they will want to reveal the location until it starts just to help prevent a swarm of onlookers, As said on a remote island would be ideal but I imagine a lot of the trials/living areas will be indoors just due to the danger of bad weather.
Im sure the location will be leaked when they start setting up massive generators, sets and OB trucks.
Not surprised to hear the show is going ahead in a different format, ITV desperately need their biggest shows to go ahead this autumn so they can get their advertising revenue back on track.
The new format might just be exactly what the show needs to freshen it up. I think ratings will probably be very strong too; content is likely to still be thin on the ground by autumn and I think people will welcome something different for three weeks.

I think it is quite likely, and possible Australian Survivor will film in Australia now too having previously ruled it out. As the latter is unlikely now to get a series in the can in time I can I'm a Celebrity being pushed back to it's in-season February slot (it aired Jan this year), but as you say filming dates will be all over the place anyway. Ten had reversioned their Amazing Race to stick within Australian borders too but now state borders are closing back up seems unlikely that'll go ahead any time soon.
From ITV's perspective better to try and go ahead with something this year, especially with it being in the key pre-Christmas slot, than postpone and hope they could perhaps do a series next Spring, whether in Australia or South Africa, as nobody knows how the next year is going to pan out. I do think this could very much be on theme and work for the show, and it's in their favour there isn't really an established reality show based in a haunted house. It does fit the "Get Me Out of Here" theme.
A remote castle on one of our islands would be a nice move. And with proper modern lighting and those outdoor heaters, I’m sure the production team will come up with an environment that is very much workable.
I imagine a ruined castle in the Scottish highlands or one of the islands would be preferable for keeping members of the public away, as well as often having some nice scenery. There's quite a few ruins relatively close to the Torridon Hotel (recently featured on BBC Two's Amazing Hotels) which might appeal to the celebrities. On the downside I imagine the weather will be a lot colder in the highlands compared to down south.
I just did a quick google the area near the Torridon Hotel and it looks stunning. As an alternative to the jungle, it's a good idea.
I wonder what they will use as the first trial because unless it’s filmed in the middle of a city there’s not much tall buildings around castles.
I think a remote island would be a good place to hold it but if it’s on the west coast where many of the islands are it will be extremely cold and don’t forget midges less Harmful than mosquitoes but considerably more annoying.
