And no doubt said uproar will generate lots of stories in the tabloids

To be fair that is weird for such a big show. It's like the love island saturday clips show. Maybe Strictly will just have a recap aka repeat show next weekend.

To be fair Strictly was the same, they just had highlights shows replacing regular shows for about a month before it started (and then there will be twitter outrage when people realise it isn’t a proper Christmas Day Show either)

Not that it takes much for Twitter to get outraged.

Going by the opening link, they got a lot of "feedback" about last night's show 🤣

At least they acknowledged it, rather than it being an elephant in the room. Personally on Saturday night once we realised it wasn't live we decided to change channel and find something else to watch. I'm guessing it was partly done to give the crew a day off, given the late night filming schedules.

Out of interest does anyone know how it rated in the overnights, especially after the first 10 minutes? I suspect quite a few viewers might have disappeared when they discovered it wasn't live.

Held pretty steady between 6.1-6.5m through the hour, no noticeable drops.

I still can't figure out why this highlights show is happening. There was a live trial on Friday night and then there was one on Saturday night (shown on Sunday) and a Kiosk Challenge on Saturday (shown on Sunday) so really the only people getting time off that I can think of, if that's what this is for, would be the live studio team.

I did think they might to a bigger showpiece trial to film during the day on the Saturday for inclusion in the Sunday show, but that clearly wasn't the case in last nights show.
Turns out nobody had 2020 vision.

They are using less than half the personnel than they would ordinarily, so presumably crew on location are working every day. So I expect it's to give them at least a day off?

The outrage on social media though was unfair (if not entirely predictable) considering the huge effort gone into bringing this show to air at all during a pandemic. Will be interesting to see if they stick with this now or do something else next Saturday.

That's what I mean from my post though, I'm not really sure who's actually getting a day off other than the studio lot.

I've known a few people who worked on it in Oz and they've said they work the three weeks without any days off normally anyway. They're editorial staff though while the camera, lighting etc crew will likely be unionised so they would actually be getting properly timed shifts and days off, or compensated properly if not.

How about the people actually editing the VTs?

It's one thing pointing all the cameras at the trial and the challenge, but another packaging it up into a nice 5 minutes?
