I’m A Celebrity...Get Me Out Of Here! moves to UK for 2020
ITV announced today that the 20th series of I’m A Celebrity...Get Me Out Of Here! will be filmed in the UK. The show will be broadcast live every night from a ruined castle in the countryside.
Ant and Dec will host the series, bringing viewers all the news and excitement of the day.
As on the regular series, viewers will see the celebrities undertake gruelling trials and fun-filled challenges to win food and treats in the lead up to one of them being crowned, for the first time ever, King or Queen of the Castle.
I guess they'll quarantine contestants, and probably Ant and Dec, for two weeks before filming and test, test, test.
It should hopefully be good for the show though in the same way Holly taking over for a season was - freshens up what is a popular but stale format and forces producers to think beyond the usual.
From a presentation point of view it will have to be very different. The titles, stings and theme tune all reflect the outback of Australia (or at least a stereotypical view of it).
It’ll be interesting to see how they can create the same feel for Ant & Dec’s links without the luscious green bright scenery.
If Ant & Dec are quarantined for weeks before hand, could they stand next to each other or would it be preferable to have them stood apart to show the social distancing?
Have they mentioned the length of the series? I wonder if they are to extend it to help the autumn schedule.
I suppose it helps with the BGT shows that they haven’t got to fly out of the country.
It will be very different from I’m a Celeb as we know it. I don’t think you’ll get many eating trials and also the levels of darkness in the UK hosting it on a November evening is going to give a very different feel for the show.
Indeed... if there’s a second wave at the time then it could still put the series into jeopardy.

Will be interesting to see the visual changes they make for the series. I assume they might go for a brand new title sequence to match their filming location. Can't see them changing the music though, it doesn't fit the setting of a castle but it's just too iconic.

What about a slight remix of it, with strings added? Call it the ‘Regal Remix’
I used to love this show (as last season, I was bored of it) but I would not do IACGMOOH this year, full stop. Even in the UK. Love Island is cancelled, and so is the Apprentice. Money is an issue at the moment and these shows cost money and if ratings for these continue to decline then they might as well be chopped and that money can sustain, drama, corrie, news, racing and England and FA Cup matches.
Also, having it in a castle will mean that they would have to change the title sequence (as the jungle would not fit it), which will cost money and it would feel like a different show therefore if they want to go ahead with this, they may have to change the title and it may have the feel of a flop and there are differences between a castle in the UK to a jungle in Australia, and I feel the audience are bored of more commissions of reality TV. With all of this I fear it could have the feel of the murder game on BBC in 2003
