It has become that now, but if you look at this:
They're only referred to as trials, with the exception of the eating trial which is referred to as the Bushtucker Bonanza, and Dec points out that bushtucker is Australian slang for all the bad stuff they've got to eat in exchange for a decent meal.
Also how primitive are those trials compared to today!

It's funny to think one of the Trials was literally just "lie in this hole for about 15 minutes with holes on the side so we can have stagehands hands grab at you" - I guess in the first season they didn't really have animal trainers.
Today if you had that Jungle shower task it would likely be in a plexiglass cage so Tara couldn't duck out half the time.
Also I notice, at least with the first few trials, that Ant and Dec don't really explain what's going on (unless this is edited out from this bigger set which I assume was a post-series highlight show or home media release) Tara asks what is being showered on her and they don't really answer. They also don't warn Rhona that there's anything more to the task than laying in the dark for around 15 minutes until *after* she calls quits which seems a little unfair.

Is anyone else finding this "BEST SERIES EVER" actually quite boring? A week and a half in and nothing has really happened. Personaly I don't think Noel Edmonds just being "TV legend Noel Edmonds" has added anything at all to the show. After almost 2 decades of this genre now it's still amazing how people assume the bigger names the better the show when in reality it's the Dean Gaffney's & the Gillian McKeith's who make better viewing.

What's the difference, most of SNT is House Party with a bigger budget and no Blobby (not a big loss) and I am sure Edmonds would cost ITV a lot less money than Ant and Dec or even just Dec.
Kind of hoping ITV have House Party lined up to replace SNT next year.

I very much doubt ITV would be willing to recreate a version of the Crinkley Bottom Great House set just for a probable one-series only revival of Noel's House Party, especially if Ant is fully ready and able to for Saturday Night Takeaway to return in 2020.

In TV terms the cost of the set for a one off episode or series of House Party would be nothing. Ant & Dec basically did their own house party for a one special one Christmas and Channel 4 also recreated the TFI set for what was originally a one off special.

Or bring back NTV as a one off.

Yes it would be ridiculous to build something so extravagant for Noel for only a brief...
Oh.

That was also my first thought. A shame that it didn’t become an annual tradition, it was a lovely set.
And a similar, larger set (with centre revolve) for Michael Bublé - Home for Christmas in 2011
