We still watch it, but to be honest I find the whole act between the presenters a bit tedious. This is an adult show, shown after the watershed but I find the presenters act wholly childish, increasingly so. But then again I’ve always thought of A&D as being essentially children’s entertainers promoted to family entertainers for stuff like BGT and SNT.

I was expecting the presentation act to veer away from childish innuendo and snickering with the introduction of Holly, but her role seems to me to simply be that of a direct plug in replacement for Ant. I willingingly accept however that this style is still very popular still and the ratings will reflect that.

ITV have confirmed this morning that Noel's going in, though everyone already knew anyway.

Also, with respect, for most households the watershed is pretty irrelevant these days. I'd still consider I'm A Celebrity a family show.

Well in that case, it justifies why Holly was given the gig.

I hope the £600,000 they are paying him will be worth it. If he becomes a bore, they will regret the money spent on this washed up, failed gameshow host. Deal or No Deal was axed by Channel 4, and Cheap, Cheap, Cheap was the biggest pile of crap produced on Channel 4 in years, so he is not the bankable asset he once was. We wait and see.

Deal or No Deal was axed but you it lasted a decade and was a breakout mega hit and they always lose momentum over time. The show also suffered from being extended to an hour, bigger channels coming up with new formats in that time slot and Channel 4 giving up at daytime. I don’t think it’s a reflection on Noel, although people getting tired of him and the format would be a factor.

Cheap Cheap Cheap was something that could have easily become a cult hit. But it just never caught on for some reason.

I don’t think Noel will be boring but he might not likeable. It depends if he forgets the cameras are on or not.

I imagine it's easy to forget the cameras in that situation.

Cheap, Cheap, Cheap was miles more entertaining than any property or cooking show Channel 4 will put in its place

This could go one of two ways. Either we get the Noel none of us want to see - banging on about positivity, being difficult with people and causing offence because of his not particularly well-supported views (or even worse using it as a platform for having a go at Lloyds, which will just get edited out). He becomes even more of a joke and slips from public view. To be honest after his performance with the rally car thing on BBC2 I fear this.

Or, he's the amiable, able to have a laugh at himself, gets-along-with-anyone kind of person that those of us who grew up with the glory years of House Party recognise, and this appearance kickstarts a late career revival as people remember why they liked him in the first place, somewhat like when he came back to TV in 2005. Going on his self-deprecating quotes in the press release, I'm really hoping it's this one.

I don't think many people can disagree that Deal or No Deal should have ended earlier than it did - as I said in the "Noel on Strike" thread, it could have even ended after its fourth season and it wouldn't have been obviously too soon.

And certainly no-one can disagree that Cheap Cheap Cheap was a flop. Quite remarkable that it stayed in its original timeslot for the duration of its run - compared to another Channel 4 teatime failure, Benchmark with Paddy McGuinness, which was moved to lunchtimes and then, after performing badly at *that* time of the day too, shunted to 4 in the morning. (And it probably didn't get many more viewers than ITV Nightscreen either...)

Of course, when Noel left the BBC all those years ago, people wondered if that was the end of his TV career. If, as Buster fears, he turns out to be a disaster in the jungle, people will probably be *hoping* that that's the end of his TV career... Embarassed

Noel has a very big ego, which is why they have got him for the jungle. He will jar with many there. He has only been in the public news due to his on going spat with Lloyds bank. This appearance must be a way to get him back into the public attention, make more money to fill the void left by Lloyds who apparently took millions from his company. £60 million lawsuit he has against them.
