Kate Thornton brought nothing to the X Factor, Schofield & Willoughby brought nothing to Dancing on Ice and Davina brought nothing to Big Brother but all those shows still hobbled along. The hosts aren't really all that important to these type of shows, the fact that Ant & Dec actually do a good job is just the icing on the cake. Ally Ross pointed out in his column today just how superior Ant & Dec are compared to Davina and other lesser talented hosts, using the moment when Marks letter to Cerry's was read out as an example. They didn't ruin the moment and just said nothing. Whereas gobsh*te McCall would have gurned and squawked on for 5 minutes. Rolling Eyes


Yeah, I read that as well and it was a brilliant point and does prove how talented they are compared to other hosts on the box right now. They could pick up almost any other project and make it a success. McCall would never leave Big Brother because she knows it's the only big show she'll ever present.

The thing with Davina, she has become part of Big Brother, she is one of the first things people associate Big Brother with, and vice versa. That said, she is not the be all and end all of the show.

Same if Ant and Dec left Im A Celeb, yea the links wouldnt be as good, but the show is not about them too, its about the celebs.

This years series has been really good, ive enjoyed it and im glad they didnt put in hardcore D list celebs, or how low you can get.

The difference with Davina is she's on air just one night a week - and replacing her wouldn't be as big a change as replacing Dermot will be on BBLB.


Ant and Dec are on air throughout the series and link every single bit of VT - most of the time filling time between the VT with their own scripted material.

They are a key part of I'm a Celeb - and I'd imagine very few people who record the show fast forward through their links as it's their observations which make it what it is. Take away their links and you've probably got a very sub-standard reality show actually.

Nope he decided that we had a terrible signal and at 1am last night he was in the loft trying to hook up a super duper aerial to the tvs. The job is not finished as he needed a little refreshment. FFwd to 8am... Me.. Tvs done yet?
Him.. Nope it'll be done by the time u get home

FFFWD to now.. Tvs as they were when i left this morning, he's working and won't be home till gone 10pm. I've tried doing it myself but there are so many wires and cables i think my brains gonna explode. So its pissing the neighbours off with music tonight for me.

I'm on broadband. You can really do that? I've never watched telly on net before, only youtube. Googlyeyes, tonight i think i adore you.

True! In our house, Baron T fast forwards through all the "coming up" teasers, and any of the celebs' "pleas to camera", but we always watch Ant & Dec's links in full. The script's usually quite good, they deliver it very well and the natural chemistry between the two of them is great to watch. They're great with the messing about, but also know when, and how, to do a gentle gearchange when a bit of sensitivity is required.
I used to think Davina could do that too, but in recent years she just seems to do the shouting and gurning a silly interrruptions.

The most entertaining contestant doesn't win, yet again. But Janice came pretty close so I guess that's OK. Congratulations to her and Chris. Less said about boring old J, the better.
