If you were the boss if ITV, what would you change?

I was the boss of ITV, I would buy out SMG, UTV and GMTV outright. During Movies, there would only be ads every 30 minutes rather than every 15. I would also make new shows, and change the schedule a bit.

Why 9.25am and not 9.30am?

Yes, but the OP is suggesting buying out GMTV so no contract would exist.

So you would put the same amount of **** on but have it on at different times of the day. Hmm! Confused

I like the weekdays 9pm slot.

"Drama"

So all dramas would now be an hour in length and never on at the weekends

That's the problem with these silly stranded schedules that people seem obsessed by

Passions would need longer than a 30min slot. I download episodes ad free and they last on average 37mins. I doubt it would work on ITV1 anyway - they axed Night And Day because people didnt get it so why anyone would think a soap that has a 300yr old witch, an orangutang nurse and storylines that drag on for months at a time would be suitable for an ITV1 audience is beyond me.

This schedule is very similar to the current except shorten the Lunchtime News to 30 minutes, and install a 15 minute News update at 3.00pm. Short News updates would air just after Corrie/Emmerdale at 8pm and also at 9pm. The soaps would convert to US style hour-episodes starting at 7 o'clock Sunday-Friday.

20.00 Tonight with Trevor McDonald (Monday), The Bill (Tue/Thu), Fit Club or similar (Wed), Film (Fri)

22.30 ITV Nightly News
23.05 etc...

That's all really. Of course it would look slightly different on the weekends.

The only thing I would change is put the late news on at 22:00, I just think 23:00 is a bit too late even for 'late news'.

If you were the boss of ITV what would you do about its pensions shortfall? What would be your position on dividends, i.e. would you be looking to pay a dividend to shareholders or would you put it all back into programmes? No doubt you've thought about these things if you've wondered about being the boss of ITV.
