I'm sure someone else can manage to host this audio material.

As you have said previously Mike, you are not terribly happy with clean MP3's going on the net. I can see your view - to a point. But Identz is about much more than just a few MP3's. The site is still in its infancy, and even in these early times of the site, it is constantly being scrutinised and riddiculed by some people - who in my opinion are either jealous, or have nothing better to do with their time.

There are just 3 more MP3's to go onto Identz, then thats it. I've seen the real attitude now, and I see when Identz does eventully cease, then the existing TV sites will most probably act like vultures and host the files without permission.

I was planning to put up the BBC 1 sounds, but that idea has totally been scrapped now. The site will continue to build on its strengths and hopefully continue into a popular, informative, and enjoyable website - just like our initial business plan (there was one!) set out to do.

Ok, theres my bit said! Smile

OK then Jamez, can I then ask that when your site does 'cease' can we (TV Archive) be granted permission by you to host your contents?

Yaawwwwn....

So what. It's his (and James Ison's) site. They can do whatever they want (within legal limits). If you hate the site (or the way they do things) so much, why do you keep going there. (Oh yeah, the MP3s...)

And yes, 'graphix' means 'graphics.' Do you have to be so picky? It's not like he's writing an essay.

Here is a quote from Identz found on the About Us page,

'The files that are currently on Identz will also disappear, and will not be donated to any other site. This mainly because of a gentleman's agreement with the people who supplied Identz with its exclusive content in the first place'.

Sorry, let me try to understand this.  You had an agreement with insiders at the BBC to post high quality mp3's on the web for unlimited people to download but they only agreed to supply the content if it appears on your website only ?

I think people in charge of protecting music copyright at the BBC would love to hear about this agreement.

I also think Identz tagline is great, 'We do not tolerate websnatchers' .  I think Identz should keep in mind that breaking UK copyright law is slightly more important than potential websnatching.  What exactly will you do Jamez if someone does decide to host the files on their website?  On your past performance I'd say a tantrum is definitely on the cards.

Oh for Gods sake, you are all be having like six year olds, Jamez is having a tantrum and VoR is attacking him relentlessly.
Heres a list of how you can sort this out.
1. Jamez and co. return the website and when updating leave the existing site up. If you must take it down say the real reason why, not just because of this thread.
2. VoR etc.leave the whole copyright issue, its a delicate balance, and its the same for all TV sites, so just leave it.
3. Jamez and co. just take the criticism, the only real problem is the site being taken down, the other gripes are those that have arisen because of this.
4. VoR etc. just try being constructive.
5. Just let the problems of this thread die, just move on.

Jamez etc. You've got a very good site, with a growing collection of content, just let it develop, and learn how to take constructive criticism.

I encourage constructive critisism, its blatent insults i cannot abide!

I have said this before, but if there is something about the site you would like to tell me or Ison, then do it through email!

Fair enough, we just need agreement from the VoR camp and this can be sorted!

'Donate' the files. What a joke! You can't donate files. As soon as you put something on the net it's no longer safe. It's open for the billions of net users everyday.

Face facts. If you didn't want other sites getting this stuff, then perhaps you shouldn't have put the content online in the first place then if you are look for and exclusive.
