Which Idents Are The Worst...

In your opinion, which ident is the worst to be made by a TV network?

IMO, I think the globe ident that BBC One used before their ballon ident was very bad, especially with the logo they used back then.

Also, the Yorkshire Northeast 3 Ident was pretty cheap. The HTV "White On Blue" ident just gives me the creeps, and the Scottish TV ident used in 2000 was pretty bad. It looks modern, but some of them depict the place as dreary, stormy, and unwelcoming (all facts, but do you really want to advertise that on TV).

Enough of my spiels. What do you guys think?

New Itv ones, so pointless, unless its trying to say yes most of our viewer would rather be outside having fun!

93 Carlton ones with those people are Very cheap way of making brand new ones!

Although the STV 2000 were good, if there could just have some nice sunny ones Edinburgh/ Glasgow on then it would be alright,

For me its got to be the current Five idents. But the SKY ones are pretty bad aswell.

Grrrrr, I quite like the Sky 1/2/3 ones, they're not that bad when you compare them to ITV1's attempt at being "trendy" with live action idents

I've not had the misfortune to see five's new ones yet, but I don't imagine I'm missing much from the previews I've seen.

Carlton did start off with some very $hitty ones in 1992, but by the time they'd bought Westcountry they'd improved so much I will always remember them as some of my favourites now.

Channel 3 North East (C3NE) did look like it was knocked up by a post-grad graphics student one lunchtime........and should forever have pride of place in the "ident Hall of Shame"

Surely Ulster Televisions 'telly on a stick' ident of the mid 80s has to be one of the worst ever...

Yea, that one might have been OK back then. It certainly is not now.

I really don't like that "Sperm" Ident by five. It really makes absolutely no sense whatsoever. I could have been used for a porn film

O wait a minute, they do air those at night!

I remember it looking laughably bad at the time, especially when you consider it was still in use in 1988. In comparison at the time, Central had its Cake idents, Anglia had its flag, even Tyne Tees had a nice ident with it's 'Flowing Rivers'.

I have to say, ITV's current look isn't all that superb. ITV1 is definitely the worst of the worst IMO, while ITV3 is the best of the set, although I dislike IDs that use people as the main focus of the ident.

From what I've seen of five's new look, I'm not too impressed; but I'll hold back on a definitive verdict on them for the time being.

Honorable mention goes to BBC ONE (2002 - Present); ranked above ITV1 simply because some of the idents are actually shot very well, while others have good soundtracks. Still utterly poor when compared to it's predecessors, though, going from such a great high (literally too) with the Globe-Balloon concept, to the greatest low with the current 'dance' set.

Might as well take the opportunity to say how much I am hoping for a return of a single symbol as BBC ONE's identity sometime later this year, whether it be a numerical '1', or a new incarnation of the globe.

I do like the ITV1 ident that has a sort of happy Good Vibrations theme about it. "Bah-de-bah..bah-bah-bah".

I agree, that is probably the best audio of all the ITV idents, sadly they don't use it for many others.

I think the new itv credits are a bit more interesting thn the last ones but the regional names underneath are sooooooooooo tiny, saw a Granada one the other week it was almost unreadable
