I have noticed yesterday and today that there have been no idents going into Westcountry News. It just goes from a programme trailer straight into the titles, just like the 6 pm programme in the week.

I guess it saves making pre-recorded announcements, which were poor anyway. Rolling Eyes

I couldn't tell you when I last saw an ident into any regional news on ITV1 Tyne Tees and I hate it. I thought there was a requirement at one time for a formal Station ident at Startup and at tea time which is why we got the full "C3NE TTTV" announcement during the dark time that C3NE was on our screens.

At least a formal announcement means we go into the regional news with a bit of gravitas, the promos which currently lead into them aren't always compatible with the lead story.

I guess with the axing of the 3pm bulletin from next month they wont to idents into regional news anymore, all the other weekday bulletins are either within GMTV, This Morning or the ITV News, apart from 6pm when they dont have an announcement anyway.

The last time I looked, Channel are still using idents with their news bullies.

All Ex-GMG North Regions haven't been using idents at 6pm for a very long time now, they stopped using them a few weeks after the ITV1 National brand came to air, they came back for a few months last year when ITV News was relaunched and then disappeared, though you don't blame them for that one as the announcer would have to record at least ten versions of the announcement.

They kept mixing it up though as we got an announcement once saying that Granada Reports was coming up but it was going to be presented by the people who presented on Calendar!

None here on Anglia. For local programming they just use the ITV1 ident too.
