how about bring back Kilroy?

Good God, No! That used to be awful to watch.

I'm going with the flow here and expressing my dislike of the current offering of Daytime on the BBC, but at the end of the day people are watching these programmes and they seem to do well in the ratings. The BBC have never been that great at Daytime, just repeats and lifestyle and that seems to have been pretty much unchanges since 1986, the only things that have slowly disappeared are Schools programmes (as TV had been killed by internet in schools), old Films and gameshows.

I think the BBC really needs to dumb down on the DIY and cookery programmes they show every day and focus more on filling the schedule with quality drama, whether this be a repeat or a film, it is better than what is on at the moment. I'm certainly not saying cut out all of the DIY and auction programmes, but remove say half of them from the schedules.

It's disgusting that some of these weekday fillers are slowly creeping into the weekend schedules as well. I've noticed BBC TWO often show editions of Flog It! and Animal Park most weekends now and BBC ONE shows editions of Cash in the Attic on Sunday's as well. This is simply not good enough.

Looks like Sky1 is getting involved in the whole daytime thing.

Quote:
Former Coronation Street and Waterloo Road actress Angela Griffin has been unveiled as the new face of Sky1's daytime lineup.

The star will front a new live daytime chat show called Angela and Friends from November alongside a revolving roster of co-hosts.

The series will cover "the latest showbiz stories, lifestyle trends, viewer comments, features and special guests" as well as a daily "lifestyle club looking at books, films, health, beauty and fashion".

The commission is for 90 episodes - 18 weeks - each of 90 minutes. "This show is a real departure for both her and us," said Sky1 head Stuart Murphy. "This is the start of our strategy to focus significant money on one or two key daytime slots and promote them heavily."

Griffin added: "I'm thrilled to have been given the opportunity to develop another side of my career and work with such a dynamic team. It's going to be a lot of fun and I can't wait to get started - I'm dead, dead excited."

Sounds interesting, but what will be more interesting is if it does any good ratings wise. Big gamble for Angela and Sky I think.

Sounds like a dumbed down version of The Wright Stuff - and that's saying something.

I think BBC Two should go back to showing a " Daytime on Two " type schedule. It was far more interesting. Some ( or most ) of the programmes were quite good.

I agree BBC One's output is dire with cheap property shows etc. Maybe the should bring back Knots Landing?

Full marks to BBC Two for Pointless as well as The Hairy Bikers - and at least it seems endless Ready Steady Cook at 430pm is dead.

All I hope for now is The Weakest Link to go ( or return to BBC Two ) and CBBC on One to get back to finishing at 535pm

Come Dine with Me on C4 can stay on forever...as long as the keep producing new programmes Very Happy
