Teleshopping channel Ideal World appears to be the latest retailer to be struggling.

The Peterborough-based Ideal Shopping Direct is up for sale, just three years after private equity firm Blackstone acquired the business, which runs a number of services across Freeview, Sky, Freesat and Virgin Media.

Local media reports that the 500 staff at the company face an uncertain future. Meanwhile, The Sunday Times Business section reported that the company could be sold by Blackstone for less than half the price it paid three years ago. It reported that trading had "suffered" recently.

He tried Gems TV shortly after Bid went in to shopping telly heaven however that didn't last too long and he turned up on IW shortly after.

I can't see him dawning an orange B&Q apron again either.

Weren't these the same people that owned the sit-up channels at some point?

They did but Aurelius wasn't able to boost the profits which had apparently been on a downhill trend for years before the entire operation fell over. I wonder if TV shopping has had its day? After all, TV channels aren't cheap to run on their own, never mind all the expenses of shifting stock around in the background.

I'd hope that the new owners finally sort out the Ideal World branding, it looks rather dated and unlike QVC, which seems to have the perception of being a John Lewis these days of home shopping tv after investing in new facilities in Chiswick, IW still feels like it's a cheaper brand.
