Really? I bow to your greater knowledge then...

Yeah I think it's mainly as children tend to be up earlier than adults, plus as it's Christmas the ITV Morning News becomes a 5 minute summary so they use it to fill a gap. It's usually just CiTV branded, though before it's gone out with just network announcements saying, now on ITV as part of CiTV (one even said as part of Childrens ITV...). I believe last year was branded and featured Tots programmes like Engie Bengy, etc, where as on previous years they've shown't old american imports like Extreme Dinosaurs and the Hurricanes, etc.

Plus Love TV.
I like where you've added the panto, nice position, though more audience may be achieved on Christmas Eve afternoon/early evening, though as for a film, isn't Jack Frost on BBC One this Christmas?

The "Jack Frost" that is showing on BBC1 is a brand new animated tale for Christmas and is on for half an hour from 9am on Christmas morning......

Since i like joining in the boys games, I've devised my own ideal TV schedule on a brand new channel called SteveTV and here is the ideal schedule for Christmas Eve:

6.00am World News
7.00 The Morning Show at Christmas (Entertainment and magazine series-abit like GMtv but only better.
8.00 Films of the Year with Jonathan Ross (A repeat from a programme possibly shown last night....!?)
9.00 Christmas Funhouse (A ministry of mayhem style show screened each morning)
10.00 The Simpsons
10.20 Carols From.... (A different place each day)
10.45 The Snowman
11.15 FILM: Santa Who? (Comedy starring Leslie Nielsson)
12.45 Joy to the World (Christmas song 'n' Dance show)
1.30 News, weather
1.40 A Christmas Circus
2.30 FILM: The Grinch
4.15 FILM: The Santa Clause 2
5.55 News, weather
6.15 Dame Edna's Christmas Cracker
7.10 My Hero Christmas Special
7.40 EastEnders
8.10 FILM: Johnny English
9.35 The Flint Street Nativity
10.50 News, Weather
11.05 Dale's Christmas Lottery Stars
11.40 FILM: White Christmas
1.35 Carols From.....
2.00 A Christmas Circus
2.50 Joy to the World
3.35 Closedown (Complete with national Anthem)

REMEMBER, this is fictional and SteveTV is not real!!! So it doesn't matter if it's crap!

Incase anyone is wondering, "The Flint Street Nativity" was a brilliant ITV drama from 1999 that starred some well known actors playing children in a school nativity play.

A Dame Edna Entertainment show would also be fun for Christmas Eve and would feature well known celebrities doing odd things and singing!

Well, Christmas Day TV.

To be honest, what's on during the day doesn't bother me as it's not switched on till night - but I guess schedulers have to remain pretty safe for Christmas night with something families can watch.

I'll concentrate on ITV1 from the Queen Speech onwards. I've tried to keep it to something that would realistically appear on ITV1, but with a few tweaks to my taste!

3.10pm FILM: Not sure what, but it would be a modern family feel-good movie - NOT BOND!
5.15pm ITV News
5.25pm Harry Hill's TV Burp
5.55pm Who Wants to Be a Millionaire Christmas Special
(In a special edition, members of the public are invited to compete!)
6.55pm Emmerdale
7.55pm Coronation Street
8.25pm Ant and Dec's Christmas Night Takeaway
9.25pm Coronation Street
9.55pm 2DTV at Christmas
10.20pm ITV News
10.30pm Parkinson at Christmas
11.35pm In Concert: Someone famous (not sure who!)
1.05am FILM
3.00am BBC News 24 (just to annoy those who moan about it being on BBC1 and 2 as well!!!! Twisted Evil )

As a complement to the schedule, both ITV2 and ITV3 would feature programmes first broadcast in 2004, which they would continue to show over the Christmas period.

Good but I wouldn't say 2DTV was mainsteam and therefore the type of thing you'd get on Christmas Day. Satire about Blair and Bush is a bit alternative for a family sat around, would the 70 year old grandparent and 10 year old child get it, probably not.

Also, people keep saying they want Harry Hill's TV Burp on on Christmas Day. How would they do that exactly, with it being topical surely you'd have to be working right up to transmission, so they'd either be filming it or at least editing it on Christmas Eve!

2DTV isn't in a mainstream slot, but isn't anywhere near as satirical as the likes of Rory Bremner so I think the ITV1 audience are intelligent enough - although I do take your point, so maybe Parky would switch places with it.

As for Harry Hill, well most the soap plots have been known for ages - and I'm sure he gets advance copies. He could easily fill 30 mins, and if not, it would be a kind of TV Burp of the Year type show.

This year it's on BBC2 Simon. BBC1 looks as though is closing down!

Right, I'm off to Germany now to look at the Christmas Markets, so if any trails are shown and anyone is clever enough, please could you try and do some captures!

Cheers.

Am i the only person who's NEVER watched tv on Christmas Day? I was always told it's rude to watch tv when you've got guest's/family round at anytime of the year, but on Christmas Day it's a definite no go. Shocked I find it really sad that families cant find anything else to do together on Christmas Day other then sit down and watch bloody Coronation Street. Rolling Eyes Crying or Very sad What i find even sadder is people creating fantasy 24hr Christmas Day TV schedules.

2DTV is a nice bit of comedy, my family seem to get it, my nan likes the Rooney's sketch, though she also loves watching Ray in the Ministry of Mayhem.

As for TV Burp, they could ask for preview tapes, I'm sure Granada would give him early copies of the Christmas Day episodes, though it would spoil it for his audience.

The pilot for the series back in 2001 was a Christmas Show and screened between Christmas and New Year.
Plus last week he was Richard & Judy on the thursday I believe and they shown't a clip of last Saturday's show, so they can't work right up to it all of the time.

I noticed in todays paper that 'Monkey Trousers' starts in January on ITV1, which is the new name for the all star sketch show which was piloted last year with Vic Reeves, Bob Mortimer, Steve Coogan, Ronnie Ancona, Neil Morrisey, etc. The name comes from the sketch within those two pilot episodes.

The thing is that ITV could have commissioned Christmas Specials of everything, and had 5 days of Christmas Comedy from the monday to Christmas Eve, and even a few comedies on Christmas Eve, especially as they're showing It'll Be Alright on the Night!! The rest of the schedule is like a normal night with emmerdale and two corries (so why do we still need an hour on Christmas Day???), except Mr Bean filling Trevor's Slot and Millionaire on, even though this is on Christmas Day too!

But they have worked hard on comedies, surely they could have given us Christmas Specials especially on the night when they won't get much revenue! Oh well, maybe next year.
