For a season or two now, I have noticed that a great deal of you seem to have the desirous mind to download vamps, tags, etc.

But what is it, that which you do with them?

LOL - a question that has gone through my mind many-a-time! Smile

I use the ones I have for various audio projects at home & college. Also I remix them and make them sound a bit better than they do on TV.

The new BBC World vamps are very easy to recreate on keyboards and synths, so thats why I've been trying to download them and copy them.

I think the rest of the forum uses them and actually pretends to be a newsreader while they probably have print-outs from BBC NEWS Online, and then shuffle the papers at the end like a proper newsreader! Wink

I'd never be that sad(!) Laughing Laughing

I'm a tune collector, and news themes are my favorite. And the files I have could also be part of my examination in 2005.

I remember you specifically telling us not to do that sort of thing!

Oh, and in answer to the question - we listen to them.

I sit in my mock up news studio with my replica newsdesk and a team of other people who study "television presentation" and we make our own news in the studio using the real bbc news, and bbc world sounds.

God bless TV and all the programmes and idents that are brought to us via it! Razz I just cannot resist listening to the Big Brother tune.

I used to have a lot of News 24 files on my PC, but with the recent rebrand, they have been replaced by BBC One files.

By the way - if anyone is looking for the full version of the Big Brother theme, it's called: "Element4 - Big Brother theme" - I saw the video on The Box yesterday.

Erm...when? and what context was it said? If this involves Identz, then I don't wanna know! Very Happy

Aww, poor Kat. Don't you worry, a lot of people, including myself at one point didn't know what people were talking about, when they were on this sort of subject!

Basically a vamp is just like a piece of music, played to introduce something. For example, BBC National News at 1, the music which is played while the news presenter reads the headlines is known as a vamp!

A vamp is also known as a bed. For some reason, N24's headline music is known as a bed, but BBC World News's are known as vamps.

A vamp is basically the continuous music used "underneath" any headlines being read out. The titles/ident is the music after the vamp. A sting is a shorter piece of the titles. A sting can either be in the middle of a programme, i.e. BBC World Sport News Sting, or can be "opt-out" or "opt-in". A tag is a very short piece of music, which ends a vamp/bed. News 24 use their tag at *.15, to "finish" the bed.

Hope this clears it up Katherine!
