Right.
The Simpsons Started in America in Chrismas 1989 with a Christmas special. This was actually episode 8 becuase there was a delay, this was followed by episode 2 (Shown the next week in January 1990 in America) and 3 and 4 etc. Making the first Season out of order,an example of this is that in the the Christmas special Homer is a safety inspector in the Nucler Power Plant, but in 'Episode 3' Homer is fired and gets a job as a.....safety inspector at the Nucler Power Plant! Episode 1 was shown at the end of series 1 because The first series of it was given a 'U' rating before it went 'PG' in The 2nd series. The First episode was given a 'PG' rating so they put it on the end.
Sky started showing the Simpsons in 1990 (Thanks to cheshirec for verifying this below) And the BBC definetly started in 1996 with Episode 3 'There's no disgrace like home' which is very different to today's episodes (Homer wants to sort out the family, marge has the same brain power as Bart (Eg dumb) And shares eating habits, and in the end Homer actually pawns the TV to get the money for Dr Marvin Monroes family course and Bart,Lisa and Marge are all saying 'Oh homer no,please, you can pawn my wedding ring instead' (!) A complete opposite to todays!)
Or course, the Tracy Ullman shorts in America ran from 1987-1989!
I am a BIG Simpsons fan.
