Tyne Tees regional logo definitely does not match the generic ITV logo(the one used before networked programmes!)

Nah, I didn't mean that. I meant that all of the regional stuff is the same, like news and weather and that.

Anyway, I watched Granada News this lunchtime and thought 'Hmmm, that background behind Anne O'Connor looks good'. If only all of the regional stuff on Granada used this look, particularly the rest of the news program!

Big Phil should thank his lucky stars that he never had to sit through the drivel that was 'Tonight' on YTV. Where did it go, has it left our screens for good, never thought I'd be so happy to see the Wheel of Fortune on at that time (it's replacement). I spotted Christine Talbot on the new Granada Channel, wellbeing the other day, has she left YTV for good ?

I saw that once and I'll be honest, I quite enjoyed it! Christine Talbot is really nice!

I think that Granada Tonight should be split into two programs like in Yorkshire, because the hour-long program tends to repeat itself with the constant news updates. They also usually have a hard hitting story, such as the foot and mouth crisis, and then straight after, it's 'and now meet Gary, the banjo-playing camel'. Perhaps Granada Live at 5.30 (including a brief news summary) and then Granada News at Six, at 6pm obviously, would be better.

Bloody hell, talk about out of touch.
Incase you didn't know, which you clearly all don't (any of you ever read a media section of a paper??)
Granada Is relaunching Tonight on the 17th April
Lucy Meacock and an old face (I'm not saying anything) are presenting.
The show is on from 6-6.30 every day.
It is only going to be news.
They are getting rid of current affairs rubbish.
They are getting a desk.
Happy?
This is not a joke, it is really happenning, watch out on the 17th

Aw, fantastic! I hope this is true! Maybe a decent weather forecast will be launched as well! God, that has so made my day!

An old face? Maybe Tony Barnes? John Huntley? That old bloke? Probably Tony - he left about a year ago, but reappeared recently on a regional debate program. Last I saw, though, he was on 5 News.

God, I'm so excited! Hang on, a desk? Granada Tonight can't have a desk! It wouldn't be right!

Just thought- why relaunch on a Tuesday? Are you absolutely sure?

It would be Tuesday because the Monday is a Bank Holiday, and no Granada Tonight on Bank Holiday's I would guess.

Seen as you are sooo excited here is the article
And no it isnt someone who has presented Tonight before.
He has done ITN(!!) and also World in Action...
Rumours have been around for a while at Quay Street.
They were supposed to rename it back to Reports, but stalled at the last moment, and stuck with Tonight.

AS flagship news show Granada Tonight braces itself for a radical shake-up, bosses have unveiled a familiar face to front the revamped programme.

Former Granada regular Rob McLoughlin will host the primetime broadcast with fellow presenter Lucy Meacock, from later this month.

The show, which has been struggling in the ratings of late, is to be halved in length to 30 minutes, sacrificing light-hearted features in favour of hard news.

His CV includes World in Action, ITN, and a range of political shows for the network.

However, viewers will notice a marked difference in the journalist's appearance on his return to the primetime show - McLoughlin has recently lost his hair, following treatment in January for an
immune system disease.

He remarks: 'The operation was a success and I'm told that the hair will grow back - if it does, I'll sell the secret to Elton John!'

The new look Granada Tonight is due to be launched on April 17, the same day as new lifestyle programme, Lunchtime Live!, to be fronted by Eammon O'Neal.

Granada Tonight is being revamped on the 17th April. It will be shortened to 30 mins instead of one hour which it has been for 2 years. Also it will be more ' newsy ' and not as much entertainment stuff. It will be co-presented by Lucy Meacock and Rob McGloughlin ( ? spelt right ? ). Presume still studio2 in use since 1956 !!

The Granada Tonight studio is split into two at the moment- one half for news with two armchairs and one half for interviews and features with two sofas. I noticed tonight, however, that they didn't use the features half. Indeed, it was blocked off, and they used a bit of the news half instead. This, I presume, means that they will use the existing studio after giving it a bit of a sprucing up, which is probably why they chose to relaunch after Easter (studio will not be used for four days as bulletins are done from Liverpool).

Also good to see the return of Bob Greaves, former presenter, on Lunchtime Live, presenting a section on the region's history.
