I don't know about anyone else, but isn't it odd having UK old repating 4 year old editions of HIGNFY? Then again, Paramount do repeat Drop the Dead Donkey, and that's just as topical.

Well tonight's episode was very good as Jack Dee worked very well as a presenter.
A very good epsiode in all, especially at the 'Hit me Bracknall one more time' bit!

Jack Dee I thought was an excellent host, his deadpan delivery fits the programme brilliantly.

Incidentally, the stupidity of the BBC's decision not to use the word 'radio' for their digital services was highlighted by the v/o over the credits:

"we have such and such on BBC2 next, later tonight on BBC7 there is..."

To the viewer unfamiliar with the BBC's raft of digital services (and there are a lot of them), it's not clear that BBC7 isn't a TV channel. The fact that in writing they'd use BBC Two and BBC7 isn't apparant on a voicerover. Now if that announcement instead went:

"we have such and such on BBC2 next, later tonight on Radio 7 there is..."

it would be much clearer.

He seemed like he was being Jack Dee to me.

but it's not called Radio 7....

Jack Dee was fantastic. He would be perfect for the permanent host.

That's the point - it should be.

He was much better than Boris Johnson.

That is all I am going to say about this guy.

I was only stating a fact about Jack Dee...I wasn't saying that I didn't like the programme tonight...I thought he did a great job!!!

Here's another fact about tonight's show:-

HIGNFY started tonight at 9.30pm.

But surely you realise that "the lines between radio and televsion are becoming blurred so it is not right to call BBC7 radio as it is much much more than that"

4Word would have been a better name for it anyways,

Especially as it was Dead Ringers which was on BBC7 tonight, which of course is also a TV show.
Most viewers probably thought the announcer was having a laugh

Ah I see, is this part of the "promise of the digital world" then? Laughing

BBC7 isn't a radio station, at least in the traditional sense. It's a digital (only) audio service, that isn't just broadcast via
radio waves. So, in essence, calling it Radio 7 is a misnomer. Anyway, that's all beside the point, and totally off topic.

So . . . tonight's edition of HIGNFY was a very good start to this new season. Who's guest-hosting next week . . . ?
