Don't know if anyone's seen anything about this, but it looks brilliant. It's from the people behind Spooks, stars one of the people out of State of Play, and is all about con-men. The trailer looks damn nice too...

Yep, looks interesting- I've heard that it's been shot 'filmically' but not sure if that's entirely true. Nice to see the Beeb having an (admittedly half-hearted) go at "timeslicing" on the trailer (that's the "Matrix Effect" to you and me).

Interesting that the BBCi homepage is advertising the new series with a link to a review of it on Radio 4's Front Row (which absolutely slates it!)

The same level of saturated advertising (including billboards) has been heaped on this as was with the Alan Clarke Diaries.

It lived up to the hype - I hope this does too.

It wasn't bad but not good enough to keep glued all the way through. I have been on this forum at the same time. Good, but not fab!

I really liked it actually- it was clever and I really didn't see the ending working out as it did (I was thinking of the link to Kudos' other major production- Spooks, where Lisa Faulkner's character was heavily trailed as a major character before series 1 before being brutally murdered early on).

Some of the walking scenes and stop-motion-talk-to-camera bits were a bit cheesy, but it's definitely good enough to have me tuning in next week.

I'm afraid I have to put it in the "rather below average" category.

I watched it through to the end, mainly just because Tony Jordan was involved with the writing and I usually rate him quite highly; but I'll definitely be finding something else to do from nine till ten NEXT Tuesday.

When that copper walked in to take control of the investigation, I turned to 'er indoors and said "Bet he turns out to be the main con-man at the end", so it WAS quite transparent.

No, sorry, three out of ten, could try harder.

I thought it was OK actually - well put together, good storyline, actors were alright. Unlike Nick, I didn't anticipate the copper turning into one of the con-men, so I was sucked in, as the writers wanted. I think I'll be watching again next week.

Cheers- I thought I might end up being the only one admitting being surprised by the end amongst a long list of people who "saw it coming"! Rolling Eyes

But I'll be keyed into their thinking for next week- so they're going to have to be extra clever (but I suppose "24" is a bit like this, in that you know you're going to be deceived, but you just don't know how!)

But generally I think a drama about con-artists is a great idea- and it's good to see the ad at the end asking for people to write cons which could form 2nd series scripts- I think everyone has at least one clever, twisty plot in them

Enjoyed it myself. Didn't see the twists coming. Maybe needs to try and not be so clever and quick, I found it a tad tricky to keep up with it in places (as with what I've seen of Spooks)!

I liked it, interesting little things like when they were in the office and the man in the middle paused and the rest of them stood up and started talking. Did Kudos do State Of Play too?
