I have to admit that for some bizarre reason the West Country and Norfolk accents seem to merge together in my head sometimes.

I recognise that they *are* totally different, but, well, I dunno.

I think it stems from when I was a kid and was told that Pam Ayres came from Norwich (total arse as I now know).

You need to get your hearing tested! You'll be telling me Robert Mugabe has a west country accent next!

He is. I saw him on ITV1 the other day. He was a farmer and everything.

I thought " Most Sincerely " was excellent. Full credit to Trevor Eve - his voice of Hughie Green was superb and manerisms quite remarkable. Jess Yates' character was a little dissapointing. The voice was way off how it really was.
Nevertheless a great programme and great to see a couple of Thames cameras.
BBC 4 is an excellent channel with some very good programmes and looking forward to the Frankie Howard one played by David Walliams. Smile

Really impressed with Trevor Eve's performance as Green. Just excellent. I'd forgotten how ghastly Stars on Sunday was, but their recreation of its opening titles brought it all flooding back. Pale

Brilliant portrayal of Hughie Green. He and Michael Miles were the reigning kings of quiz and talent shows in their day with a young Bob Monkhouse snapping at their heels.
And agreed - Jess Yates was not very accurate at all. As 'TV's The Bishop' he had big ratings for Stars on Sunday - hard to believe that from his portrayal in this drama.

David Walliams as Frankie Howerd was great too. I haven't watched Hancock yet and missed the Steptoe and Son one so hoping they all get a repeat on BBC2 ....

Frankie Howard was the weakest of the series I thought. Walliams' performance just wasn't as strong as the others. BBC4 got off to a slow start but it's really come into it's own these past couple of years and is by far the best multi-channel (and probably best BBC channel IMO).

Shame they didnt go to the same lengths of authenticity with the studio mics as they did with the cameras.
Most disappointing
