Oh my, it's the poor man's version too, how awful. Notice that it's in 4:3, and not pretend widescreen, as the evening programme is usually shown in the West.
The ads that were played out, and the regional trail after them were Westcountry's though, so LNN are playing the correct ads through. Considering Richard just welcomed viewers from 'the far south west' again, there must be a problem in Plymouth?
Watch this programme only for as long as you can bear.

Excitement AND euphoria!
I "wonder" what the problems could have been? lol
It mustve have been planned in advance to have been produced so smoothly! With the correct adverts and promotions and even regional weather!

At least this evening, HTV News got something approaching a decent audience reach. I'm assuming Wescountry Live is fairly popular, as it seems to be a decent programme -- and used to be an hour long etc, so perhaps it's living still on the legacy of that.
Richard and Jenny aren't *too* bad, the stories can be a bit rubbish and just the colours, music and style of the whole programme better suit the 1993 HTV rebranding. Nice of them to talk to the Westcountry-ers at the end [goodness, I watched nearly a whole half-programme of it..], and both of them are from the area too, waving to Jenny's mum etc. Westcountry Weather, like most other regional weathers, isn't live I shouldn't imagine, so it might've been easy to play out a recorded bulletin, and trails etc.
HTV West morning and afternoon bulletins really are diabolical though, and nearly everything goes wrong..

No planning needed, Westcountry always have those things so it was business as usual.
Remember only the news programme comes from Plymouth, everything else comes from somewhere else (was Cardiff, now I think it is from London)

Maybe that silly seagull that pops up each weekday afternoon chewed through the DSAT feed cable! Or maybe the Captain dropped his can of cider on some expensive wiring!
KERBOOM!! LOL!

Methinks not. The 'back soon' slide was seen on dsat for around three minutes before someone in London redirected HTV's output!

Sounds like a power cut at Plymouth. The studio would have been knocked out, but the TX facilities may have been on a UPS, so Westcountry's backup would be to show another programme from elsewhere in the Calrton group, though I'd have imagined they'd have defaulted to Central News West, as they're second-in-line for national presentation in a major event, aren't they?

Central News West??
Who?
Surely it made sense to show HTV since geographically they are the next station "up"

Well, Westcountry TX, along with HTV Wales, and Anglia, Meridian and HTV West was transferred to LNN in London a few months ago, only the regional news comes from Plymouth, everything else is played out from LNN, so they would have been able to switch over to another region's output quite easily.
