On some occasions, particularly when there are favourable weather conditions I can get:

BBC:
BBC North (Yorkshire and Humberside), BBC South East (sometimes, even BBC South or BBC West Midlands).

ITV:
Carlton (Midlands), LWT/Carlton (London), Meridian (South East)

I can also sometimes even receive Channel 5 as well, despite the distance from the Tacolneston transmitter where I can't get a signal at all.

RB, is Manxville ever to get its own TV station? I've heard the Manx Parliament were thinking about it but nothing appears to have happened.

Now, what can I get...

Granada
HTV
Central
BBC North West
BBC Wales
BBC Midlands

However, I have managed to see witness the delighs of BBC North and Border. I can pick up Yorkshire but this usually requires the aid of a pigeon and a piece of string.

ive never managed to get any other region than my own Confused i live on the outskirts of birmingham not that far from the sutton c'field transmitter - could that be a reason? i ve tried on several occasions using the main tv (with arial on the roof) and portable tv (with indoor arial and booster)- and the best i got was a barely recognisable broadcast of central west, which was probably the fenton relay - just a copy of what i already get from sutton coldfield

any suggestions - do i need some kinda equiptment to do it - or am i just too far from anywhere else?

TV aerials are directional. They only see what's directly in front of them, and perhaps a little behind also.

As you are so close to a main transmitter, you are very unlikely to pick up another unless you have an outdoor high gain aerial pointing at the transmitter you want to see

When I lived near Hull, with an indoor aeriel I could get:
Look North (Leeds), Look North (Newcastle), Northwest Tonight, Midlands Today (Nottingham opt), Yorkshire, Tyne Tees, Granada, ATV, RTE, ZDF and some Russian output which never seemed to use idents.

Now I can't, but am on Sky Digital, so should be able to watch the lot soon. Very Happy

Hey where abouts near Hull did u live. I live on the banks of the Humber and can pick up YTV and Central and BBC regions. Often during high pressure I can get a brilliant MERIDIAN! picture. Have also picked up North West Tonight, Central West and South, Anglia, HTV, S4C and Dutch channels. However my village is possibly the only place in East Yorkshire that cannot recieve Tyne Tees in any form as a North facing Hill completly blocks the signal from Bilsdale

When all this satellite stuff happens it's going to spoil all this, isn't it?

Where's the challenge?

Cat, Manx Radio has to be subsidised. I doubt whether a Manx TV service is realistic. The legislation is there, though.

Depends on which part of Ayr you live in, I used to have my signal from Ulster TV blocked by the Carrick hills, while the Southern uplands blocked my signal from Border Tv from Cumbria.

The further you live from the base of the Carrick hills the better the reception you will get. With a high gain Group A Aerial mounted high up and clear of obstructions pointing directly at the Darvel or Caldbeck or Divis transmitter then you should get all 3 ITV regions.

Friends of mine when i was younder in Whitlets or Prestwick near Ayr could get great reception on Ulster and fairly good reception on Border.
