Noticed on UTV this afternoon that they will start this how low crap that used to be (and probably still is) on all the music channels this Friday night from 7.30pm

Think he means those How Low Auction things that seem very en vogue at the moment.

Basically, you're charged £1 for the privelige of texting in a value in pence for an item and the lowest unique bidder wins. They're all over the place at the moment.

Count the presentation styles!

And to think, people criticise ITV Play. At least ITV1 use continuity to actually introduce the programmes and not to flog some tacky game

By the way, I've noticed this style of quiz on my local commercial radio station, who are as it happens part of the UTV Group

well itv plc make money from showing the mint - doesn't seem unreasonable for utv to want a piece of the action.

it does make me wonder why utv don't opt out of the mint to show infomercials or strike a deal with another quiz channel. because they cant show adverts overnight since ofcom allowed the increase in advertising minutes in peak time, so a wad of cash from infomercials or a share in revenue from a quiz channel would be preferable to assisting itv plc through mint make money, wouldn't it?

It won't be long before they run some kind of interactive quiz before Emmerdale/Coronation Street and refuse to run the programmes until a certain level of revenue is reached.

Considering the winning bid is usually in the region of around £15, it shows you how much money they're making....

Oh well, makes a change from Watch to Win I suppose.

Nice combination of 2002 UTV logo, 2003 ITV1 yellow squares and 2006 ITV1 trailer board - the DOE should reward Ulster Television plc for their consistent and highly publicised use of reduce, reuse and recycle Wink

Hope the other announcers get involved in this latest UTV profit-making scheme - while the style of such a competition fits Julian down to the ground, it would still be fun to see the others have a go...
