The chap from sky news said they are moving the tempoary set back to studio 2, but what will they do in the meen time? With rolling news 24 hours, surley there is no chance of this?

I'm not sure how they'll do it to be honest.
But we haven't got long to wait, they should be moving back to studio 2, albeit without the new set and graphics, on the 28th.

I wonder how different the temporary set will actually look in studio 2?
The more interesting thing will be when they go from temporary set > new studio.
They will most likely go into one of the smaller studios at Sky Centre and then put the desk etc in, this might last for the weekend or perhaps just overnight.

If anyone is interested, I have encoded a variation of the current Sky News music, which was only used a couple of times on Sky News Active.
It sounds really good and shows that they are obviously planning to do a bit of variation with programmes.

Can we use this thread right up until the relaunch itself? Instead of opening lots of new threads.

What I want to know is what the desk will look like.
I'd expect there will be some wood on it somewhere but I still don't have a clue as to what the studio will look like!
Apparently they are changing the astons again, but this is only a rumour so let's not get too excited!

I must admit I quite like the current Sky look, even if it is only temporary. I think the way they use the countdown to the top of the hour is a good idea, rather than simply saying 'rolling news' or something boring like that.

I'd be VERY interested in the music... any chance you could e-mail me it? Was it the one used on election night Sky News Active special by any chance?

Yeah, please do although I've also got a 1 minute version that was looped with the caption 'Sky News Active Live Event' (obviously there wasn't a live event at the time!) Is this the same one?

I'd like the music too, if that's OK! As for the move to studio 2, it seems really strange that they've got enough spare floor space to fit the whole temporary set. Also, I'd imagine that they'll have to rig up some special lighting etc, so it must involve a lot of effort - not exactly sure why they don't just stay put in the temporary studio, but I'm sure all will be revealed...

By the way, I was watching Sky News the other lunchtime and because of a problem with a video package, they cut straight from a shot of Anna to one of Frank - only problem was that, as they've only got one background shot, it looked really weird because the backdrop stayed exactly the same, but the presenter changed! Spooky.

Asa, mine is from the 'coming up' caption too, it was only used during the very end of the campaign though, from what I remember.
I'll upload the file to my webspace so anyone can download it.

Nice! Prefer the main (regular) Sky countdown music though. Do they always use it as a headline bed? I heard it one day last week but they faded it out just before it got to the 10 seconds bit.

Now I bet that looked wierd Smile

Gossip titbit one: They've (obviously) finished the video wall, and rehersals have been going on all this week .....

Not too sure what they're actually going to do with this videowall though.

Stand in front of it and look pretty I suppose?

Cool idea -- perhaps they should do the weather from there?

Well they can't be using Bob Friend with the wall then!

This would explain why so many of the regular presenters have been in work but not actually presenting.
Like when we had two female presenters on one day, yet Kay and Jeremy had been in the normal slot the day before, so they were obviously working with the new studio etc.

CNBC do the weather using their video wall.
They have two massive plasma screens from the old studio, perhaps one of those could be used to do the weather on?

I'm sure the rehersals will continue next week .... so Bob will get his chance Smile

I have to say, if Sky were looking for a way of making their weather more distinct to that of News 24's ( I would say ITN, but they only pay the weather lip service!!) Using the vid wall would be a way of doing it.
