Thankfully without Pete Waterman, Michaela Strachan or the drunks.
This show is
absolutely nothing
like The Hitman and Her
whatsoever!
Pete, Michaela, drunk clubbers, and that bloke
with the wig, were what made The Hitman and Her
classic
Saturday night, Sunday morning, post-pub TV in 1988-92 !
I lasted until 4am and recorded the final two hours. Horse Meat Disco were so camp! I Loved it! They brought out their own dancers, so comical. Soul to Soul with their live PA, incredible. This was groundbreaking TV for channel 4. They kept their best for post club closing, so around 3 - 6am when the audience should have grown.
Apparently it will NOT be repeated due to rights. I would be surprised if they don't do this again. If they don't I can see another channel picking it up and bringing the club experience home. This could be the new format for music TV. I hope so. Loved it.
I'd like to see it done again but I'm sure it'd only be as occasional one-offs. The studio setup didn't look cheap, and running original, live content right throughout the night with no ads can't help the situation.

I'm fairly certain Live TV or another channel did something similar for a while, but they broadcast live from a nightclub.
Similar kind of thing as Friday night, the sound was direct from the DJs so none of the clubbers were heard cheering etc. and the visuals were just cameras in the DJ box and cutaways of the nightclub.
