House Party

No Noel Edmonds and not a Southern Television production. (August 2012)

I'm surprised a thread hasn't been started on this already, I would have started one but this programme probably doesn't interest me.

Anyway, it's on Channel 4 at midnight and goes on until 6am. Might be interesting, might not. I think it's mainly for the youths. It's nice to see a channel do something different overnight though.

It's certainly a mix of DJs, going from Grandmaster Flash to Annie Mac! With a mix of different clubbing styles; soul, house, dubstep etc.

It will be interesting to see how it's received. Really, you need to plan a house party yourself to go with it, unless you just feel like watching six straight hours of clubbing.

Surely anyone interested in it is probably out there doing it on a Friday night.

I'll give Channel 4 credit for being so experimental, but it'd be interesting to see how it plays out. Maybe it's a very long pilot of a revival of The Hitman and Her... Razz

If it weren't for the imminent Paralympic Games, I think this would be a contender for most heavily-trailed programme on Channel 4 recently - they've clearly tried to give this a decent push. I don't know whether the trail has done it justice - I saw it, thought 'it might be worth a look', and then forgot about it. At least until prompted 15 minutes later.

Or preferably, recording it on a series of cassettes using one tape deck, frantically attempting to change over as quickly as possible just as they run to the end, Live Aid style.

Ad-free too!

Think it's a great line up (sadly Horse Meat Disco is at 5am). Is this Channel 4's longest ever straight broadcast? Certainly it's longest period of being ad-free surely?

I wouldn't mind E4 doing something like this regularly but starting at 8/9pm.

I'm fairly sure the Biggest Breakfast Ever (New Years Day 2000) was longer at 8.5 hours.

"#howclubbingchangedtheworld" is the top trend in the UK on Twitter at the moment.

Laughing Live Aid was just before my birth, but that still made me laugh!

Hopefully you didn't have to do that with Live 8? Wink

And it overran by about half an hour, didn't it?

I'm not entirely sure what House Party is going to include, if it's constant music, do we just see people dancing? Will it have a proper beginning and end or will we join a party that is already swinging (do kids say 'swinging'?) and then we leave at 6am no matter what?

Will this programme have strong language and themes of an adult nature? That would be acceptable at 1am, 2am, 3am and probably 4am, but what about 5am? What about at 5:56am just before The Hoobs? Where is the other end of the watershed?

They ran over because of the competition at the end, 8 and a half hours according to Johnny.

I'm just imagining it to be like a 7 hour modern version of The Hitman and Her

Will the team from Embarrassing Bodies turn up around 4am to warn them of the damage their alcohol take is doing to them and check the bedrooms to see if anyone has caught an STI. And a reference a good decade out of date but Kim and Aggie turning up at 5.55am to clean up would be great!
