It is unusual at Centerparcs, the channels are tuned onto an analogue TV like a normal channel - but a lot of the channels tend not to work and when this happens there it displays some strange satellite error message, certainly not a Sky digibox one.

The channels use unusual regions, the one I went to was at Sherwood in Nottinghamshire - BBC1 showed Look North Hull whilst we saw Thames Valley Tonight (as it was) on ITV1. Sky News was the Irish version as has been said above.

That was the thing I forgot to mention - BBC1 was South Today, rather than Points West which it was last year!

Of course, I suppose logically it doesn't matter which region is shown, the people staying are usually not from the 'local' region anyway, though there is some value in being supplied with an appropriate regional whether forecast !

An additional thought, Center Parcs like to keep you 'inside' the village, so they might not be too keen for holiday makers to learn of events on the outside, that might attract you to have a day out !

What annoyed me at the Notts CP some years ago was the use of Sky box for Cbeebies, so after 7pm there was just a blue screen. If only a non Sky D-Sat box had been used, there could have been BBC 4 for no extra effort.

At our hotel in Majorca we had BBC1 London, BBC2 and BBC World News, mixed in along with ARD, ZDF, RTL, Super RTL, TVE1, TVE2, Canal+, Telecinco, Cuatro, TV5 and Direct 8, in no order at all, convieniently BBC1 and 2 were on Channels 1 and 2.

I've noticed in most hotels owned by Intercontinental Hotel Group, there are two systems, old and new. Where the television system is relatively new, the choice of channels is the Freeview line-up (though ususally of a few re-tunes past). The old system has a smaller range which is usually BBC One, BBC Two, ITV, Channel 4, Channel 5, Sky One, E4, Sky News or BBC News, and Cbeebies (showing the Sky box off air message when not broadcasting). In addition to this, there tends to be one channel used to show whatever channel they are showing in the bar so usually a Sky Sports channel. There are subtitled versions of BBC One and ITV usually too.

I went on a Thomas Cook Cruise around the Med a few years ago and they had IIRC: Sky News (Irish ads), Bubble Hits (Irish music channel which closed recently), Thomas Cook TV (because we obviously want to shop for our next holiday whilst on our current holiday using our mobile phones which are charged at truly extraordinary rates via the ship's satellite), Discovery and possibly CBeebies (but nothing after 7). There was also a live cam of the front of the ship, a channel which had a looped highlights reel of the ports of call and two movie channels which showed one really awful film each day at set times with nothing in between. Reception of the external channels was pretty unreliable due to the weather and general dreadfulness of the ship we were on and I remember a few times when it couldn't pick anything up there would be either a Sky FYI message or an Astra error message.

I wouldn't have minded this selection of channels if it hadn't been so stormy during our time there so we spend a lot of our time inside the ship.

Most hotels use the Quadriga system (http://www.quadriga.com/) which allows television, movies-on-demand, telephone and broadband connections.

So most hotels all use the same system by one company, even though there are numerous systems available from numerous manufacturers? Do you have any evidence to back up your claim

Quadriga provide their services for Crowne Plaza Hotels, Four Points by Sheraton, Holiday Inn Express, Holiday Inn Hotels & Resorts, InterContinental Hotels and Resorts, Le Meridian Hotels, Marriott, Mercure Hotels, Novotel, Mint Hotels, Pullman Hotels, Novotel, Sheraton, Hilton Worldwide, Sofitel Luxury Hotels, St Regis Hotels, Golden Tulip Hotels, Golden Tulip Hotels & Resorts, Westin Hotels and Resorts and W Hotels Worldwide.

They also provide systems for Phillips, Samsung, LG, Bang & Olufsen, United International Pictures, Filmbank, Teleste, GlobeCast, Cisco Systems, HP an Cable and Wireless.

There ARE other systems out there from other providers, but it's entirely up to the hotel which channels they broadcast. I'm in a Hilton at the moment in Scotland and am getting BBC One London, BBC Two England, ITV1 Granada, Channel 4 Scotland, Five Scotland, STV South, BBC One Scotland (Subtitled), ITV1 London (Subtitled), Sky3+1 plus others.

Can I just ask outright, do you deliberately ignore any references to your 'company' - Trafalgar Media?

Trafalgar isn't anything to do with me anymore and hasn't been since late 2009.

From this, I imagine that you are in a shed in Huddersfield.

The hotel I stayed in in Hamburg had BBC1 London and Channel TV.

My colleague was a puppeteer for one episode of that when he worked at Channel and they were short a few people. He says it's genuinely the highlight of his career.
