Has anyone heard any further news regarding these concerts - I've only done a quick internet search so have found limited information. All I know is that it will be shown on MTV and there will be a concert in London but one (I presume the New York one) will be shown over here at 1am on Saturday.

Has anyone heard any other news like if one of the main terrestrial channels over here will be covering it? It all seems a little rushed to me to be honest.

Well they could plan and rehearse for six months, but that's not going to be much help for people desperate for aid right now, is it?

I hear Cowell has been asked to produce a single by the PM (who will waive the VAT) to raise more funds.

In the US it's being broadcast on all the major TV networks.

Seems in the UK it's only being shown on MTV (I'm surprised BBC2 or BBC3 haven't picked it up to be honest).

Saturday 23 January 1:00am MTV Live
Saturday 23 January 9:00pm MTV
Sunday 24 January 3:00pm MTV

Just in case anyone is in a position to help (other than watching a TV concert), you can Text GIVE to 70077 to donate £5 to Disasters Emergency Appeal for Haiti.

£5 goes to DEC. You pay £5 + standard network SMS rate.

Well done Gordon Brown, Will he spell the track name right?

It does seem strange that BBC Three haven't picked this up, considering the way they shoved Live 8 down our necks.

That's a bit of a low blow considering his disability.

I'm guessing a repeat showing might make its way onto Five.

Oh I think he was just teasing.

PS: One glass eye doesn't mean you can't spell. Bad schooling - that'll do it. Wink

Seems to be an ' others are doing something, we'd best not be seen doing nothing ' moment by MTV. US networks including CNN are falling over backwards to do their bit.

The DEC Appeal is going well here and any deflection might be counter productive in the overall effort.

Showing the appeal on a mainstream channel would be treated as entertainment primarily by the audience in the UK imo.

I tend to agree, and one can't escape the cynical view that some self-serving artists will participate for their own ends.

I'd much rather see an hour or two of TV showing what the people are going through, explaining how we can help. Seems a little ghoulish to have fans cheering their favourite bands in an arena.

Do we know with the DEC how much goes towards immediate aid and how much is put into more long term projects, because with aid seemingly not getting to the people who need it (either unable to get Into the country or be distributed around the country) it's questionable whether donating to any short-term appeal will really make a difference on top of what already has been donated.
