It'll be pretty strange to see ITV Weather without a Powergen advert before it. Everyone's got so used to it over the years.
Oh yes, the olden days when Powergen would scare us with short films depicting the weather in front of a gloomy green background before being followed by Sian Lloyd. The one with the woman perepetually squirting water from her head still makes my blood run cold.
To answer your question, I don't really know either but they've definitely been sponsoring them for over 10 years and I still remember what it was like back then when regional weather was sponsored by Legal & General but that's a different matter.

I loved those sponsor idents - really creative and imaginative. Am I right in thinking that one of them was removed from pre-watershed broadcasts after complaints it was scaring the kids - possibly the Jack Frost one?
Never found them particularly scary myself... at least not compared to Sian Lloyd.
Oh, and apparently they were known as the 'WeatherGens' according to this page on the Powergen website. It also says the sponsorship has been running for 15 years, although I've a feeling the page may not totally be up to date.

I didn't think at had been as long as 15 years, but it's certainly been at least 12. Early sponsorship stings used variations of the 1989 generic ident jingle (and ISTR that the very first powergen sting used the actual unmodified jingle)
