The new ad features a big ASDA logo that opens up with allsorts of stuff in it. And there's a reworked version of the da da da da da theme!

It sounds like it's Caroline Quentin doing the voiceover, but I might be mistaken.

Well, some of him seems to be back. He appears to have lost a fair bit of weight in the latest e-sure ad.

"Calm down dear, it's a calorie controlled diet!"

How long will the ASDA name last. I'm sure it will be called Wal*Mart soon. Ours down the road is called the Wal*Mart Superstore.

I think it will last, ASDA is such a well known brand, surely they wouldn't drop it?

Anglia, Border, Central, Granada, Grampian, HTV, LWT....

Dont think just because a brand is well known a parent company wont drop it. as the previous poster mentioned the itv regional names were all sent to here:

(sorry, i couldnt resist putting that pic in here ). yes WAL*MART isnt as well known as ASDA by people over here but people are getting used to seeing the brand on ASDA signposts, carrier bags, etc. also, i would have thought that WAL*MART would want their presence more notified here, which would include the disposal of the ASDA brand. ASDA is curently being trounced in sales by TESCO so maybe with the introduction of WAL*MART and more TESCO-like stores would see an increase in sales, but who knows. as that ancient saying goes: only time will tell.

Remember what happened to Safeway. Morrisons couldn't wait to rebrand.

I feel that the name will disappear soon and just be called WAL*MART. My old local ASDA's (5 of them in total) now carry the names of either ASDA - Part of the WAL*MART family or ASDA-WAL*MART. So can't seeing the name last for much longer, then we should get used to the US adverts with CGI price tags!!!!!

Other so-called famous names disappearing soon.... (maybe this year or within the next 3 years)

NATWEST - to become RBS (they have been the same Bank for 6 years now!!!)
WOOLWICH Building Society - to become Barclays
POWERGEN - to rename to E.On on the day of the FA Cup (they are thye sponsors)

and I'm sure there arer a few more...


On the topic of E-Sure - I have to agree that Michael Winner has lost lots of weight and to be honest he looks a bit unhealthy with it!!!!!!
