Yes, i noticed this on Tuesday. Brookside did something like this a few years back, and also Emmerdale. (sorry if this has already been mentioned!)

Anyway, it comes across well, and the picture looks clearer?

Still no sign of the end of season in Home and Away on RTE thou Shelley Sutherland is back minus her long hair.

Looks like you have about four weeks to go before the 2003 finale on RTE Murf. Here in the UK, we are due to see the finale on Friday 20 July.

Did RTE take a long break from the show at all? I thought they were on par with Australia at one point (in fact, one episode ahead for a while!)?

AFAIK I don't think RTÉ has ever taken a break with H&A, I know the UK did as we didn't have it for one year, but we seem to have caught up pretty fast, though down in Oz H&A is off during the Christmas period. (I would say Winter, but it isn't in Oz) Though I remember when ITV took a break a few years ago for about 8 weeks, as they almost caught up with Oz.

I hadn't realised Eire were ahead of the UK.

It's a real shame; just before they took it off ITV the UK were only a week or two behind Oz, following the same breaks like Neighbours do so as to preserve the gap. Mind you it's interesting to see that we've caught up 4 months rather quickly!

I'm still not used to this faux-film effect. It definately seems darker. I don't think I'm ever going to prefer it.

Sorry not being picky, but the 2003 season finale airs in the UK on Friday 20th August Wink

RTE has been known to take Home and Away off air i think at christmas and sometimes during the summer I think but not sure.
RTE did go ahead of Australia in terms of episodes a few yrs back when H&A was still on ITV.
When Ch 5 started showing H&A after it begged ITV to let it show, CH5 tryed then to have RTE show the episodes as they did, so I know there was some legalitys over the programme and RTE stopped showing it for a few months while this was sorted out. This also has affected cable TV in the N. Ireland where NTL etc has to show a blank screen for the time slots the H&A are on in Northern Ireland.
If u ask me it was double standards on behalf of CH5.

Whoops - I knew it was August, just a 'typo' ! Embarassed

Without spoiling things, I see that three more characters have just departed the show down under (hot on the heels of other regulars) - they must be on about their fourth or fifth version of the 2004 opening titles now!

Hmmm... must have a look at the 7 Home and Away website. haven't visited for a while, although I knew of one or two of the younger cast members who were due to leave quite recently (I think).

It's going to be another of those periods when a big chunk of the cast will have changed within the next year. Sad

Yes, I've counted at least six members of the regular cast who depart over the next six months or so. The people who make up the title sequences are being kept very busy constantly updating them!

On a positive note, several characters from the past make reappearances, such as Shelley Sutherland, Floss McPhee, Duncan Stewart and Donald Fisher (sadly not on the arm of June Reynolds, played by the excellent Rowena Wallace). It preserves a lot of the show's continuity when such actors are invited back for guest roles. The Hunter family grows rapidly and the new faces become regulars, and the mysterious 'Jane Doe' is here to stay and finds her photo on the title sequence within a month or so.

Do you know which ex-H&A characters are going to turn up in the 'Campus' spin-off?
