Home and Away has been good viewing during the week with a father for one of the main characters about to appear. There was a tribute to Noah which is to be aired tomorrow but I wont get to see as im back in the UK

I thought the Concert episode went out last Thursday? I know Friday's episode was cancelled because of the Pope's funeral.

So Five is only about 8 episodes behind RTE now?

Just read this also on the Back to the Bay website.

Home and Away Off the Air

Wednesday's episode of Home and Away was interrupted this morning due to a power surge at Seven's Broadcast Centre in Melbourne. Seven have issued the following statement, apologising for the loss of programming:

Seven Melbourne would like to appolgise to it's viewers acorss Australia for its power surge which interupted the following programs: Home & Away/Will & Grace (WA), Will & Grace/Blue Heelers (SA) Blue Heelers/Air Crash Investigators (QLD, NSW, ACT, VIC, TAS) on the night of Wednesday April 13.

Seven has not issued any encore screenings of the mentioned programs however severel new promotions are in process of creation to update on missed out footage.

Yes, that's right. Only eight episodes behind, and if RTE continue to drop episodes, the UK may end up in front!

I mentioned that briefly in the Australian Television Presentation Thread. Seven did actually repeat H&A in WA the following night, and showed a double-episode on the Friday. They will also be repeating Blue Heelers in all markets except WA. The differences in time-zones across Australia meant that different shows were interrupted in different states.

I Think will all other shows that RTE get before the UK the will want to stay a few days ahead of FIVE, thought it would be interesting to know what the viewing figures for Home and Away on five in the North of Ireland are.
I am guessing more people watch it on RTE, and another guess is RTE is not that bothered if Five goes ahead, as im sure RTE wont loose any viewers.

Five cut Home & Away - yet again!

Si-Co (from here and BBTB) compared the two episodes and Five actually cut about 17 seconds out of Henry's tap-dancing scene in the Concert for Noah episode, which aired on Wednesday night.

These included shots of Alf and Kit, and Colleen, Flynn and Leah in the crowd. They did actually show the end of the scene (when they went to the break) so it's obvious the cuts were deliberate.

At a guess, it was because of the strobe-light effects in that scene - or at least that's what their answer will be if we bother to email them.

Surprisingly, Stafford's comment to Josie about leaving the phone on vibrate (she'd know all about that) was left intact!

This is the sixth time, in the space of five months, that Five have taken the scissors to Home & Away since taking the show from ITV in 2000.

I will be uploading a full version of the episode to BBTB so you can catch up on what UK viewers have missed.

With the recent shunting of the show to mid-afternoon to acoomodate football, is this a downward spiral for Five's treatment of the show?

It also raises concern with the recent introduction of PG-rated episodes in Australia, conerning their current stalker storyline.

How disapointing was that episode - and I always hate how soaps/drama make concerts, fancy dress parties etc look very professional when in fact in the communities they reflect they wouldn't be anywhere near that standard.

There's now rumour - and it's currently only that - that the show may move to 5.30pm and Family Affairs to 6.00pm.

Even Five wouldn't be this silly, surely? Sadly in this country, Neighbours would win every time for fans of both soaps.

SPOILER (highlight to read) Arrow Actress Laurie Foell has revealed she will be leaving the show (again) this May, although she will be seen on screen for another couple of months. Laurie plays Josie Russell, and previously played her lookalike cousin Angie. The character of Josie was devised to allow the popular actress to return to the show. No word on whether she chose to leave or was axed, although she is leaving some months before her contract was due to expire. Laurie will continue to be seen on British screens until about December.

Tonight Five decided our delicate little ears couldn't cope with hearing the following line, and cut it from the episode:

"Don't worry, Tash. Do you think I care what these morons think?"

Since when has 'morons' been an inappropriate word on early evening television? Rolling Eyes
NU
The Nurse
Similar to the word "spastic" - "moron" was originally used to describe someone with a specific mental illness, rather than someone who's an idiot (which is how it's used nowadays). So I guess the ultra-PC brigade might jump on their bandwagons in the way that they would should the word "spastic" be used on TV.

Having said that I personally feel that the modern definition of "moron" has been much more accepted into society than "spastic" ever has so this seems terribly OTT to me.
