Tell me about it. This will actually be the EIGHTH version of this year's titles - which must be a record for any year I would imagine. It should be the final version of this year, as the season is due to end on 26th November.
By the way, I think the person in question is due to leave on 12th November, so it will be two weeks time the titles are updated.
In this year's second version of the opening titles (recently seen in the UK), Kirsty was incorrectly credited as 'Kristy', which was corrected after a couple of days. So effectively there will have been nine versions! I wonder how drastically the title shots change in the new year - maybe they will keep the same 'theme' as this year, and will just update individual shots as necessary as characters depart and arrive. I know two more regulars are due to depart in the new year (
Kane and Kirsty
).

Yet another new set of opening titles here in Australia next week due to the departure of another character. There's been so many now, I've lost count of how many different sets we've had.

Which means we're not too far off from the
Seb car-crash
storyline either.
Hmm... with yesterday's car-crash I'm wondering if this is the start of the OTT phase that the Australian viewers have been talking about during the Spring and Summer of this year? Apparently things go a bit crazy between now and the Olympic Cliffhanger.

Oh my god... That storyline (
Seb car crash
) seems like it was ages ago now. Things do get a little crazy from now. I know I didn't care if i missed H&A around that time. Do you guys break for the xmas-new year period or does Five show H&A all year?

Can I just ask what an omnibus is exactly? Have never heard the term used on Australian TV before so not really familiar.
Home & Away being a few months behind over there is going to come in very handy though next year when I'm over. I won't miss what's happening over here while I'm away which is great!

It's a compliation of all the week's episodes, shown in one large block.
So Monday - Friday's episodes of Home and Away are shown all as one long programme on Saturday morning, with no sign of when one episode ends and the other begins.

Interestingly, how do they manage to crap 5x 30 min programmes into 2hrs. 5 - this would; they have to cram many ad breaks out - IIRC when I used to watch the omnibus' there were only ever three sets of ad's
Another interesting point is that H&A runs in seasons over there - is that why there is a differance between a 5min recap at the beginning and one that looks at around 2 weeks worth? I always thought it was to refresh your memory and they do it every now and then.

I think the re-cap at the start usually just relates to what has previously happened relating to the main storyline that's on that night's episode.

I can answer this.
Yes - Home & Away runs in seasons in Australia. The show usually takes a Summer break between the end of November and comes back in the second full week of Janurary.
It's shown five days a week for the rest of the year, Monday - Friday, at 7pm on Seven Network and it's affilifiates (sp?) around Australia (is this in a similar way to ITV regions? Some stuff I've downloaded of Back to the Bay.com is taped off of GWN, but stuff off of Summer Bay 3000.net is off of Seven)
The show rarely takes breaks during the year, however it does go off air for the Olympic Games, and this normally brings with it a massive cliffhanger in the storyline. The show also has big end-of-season cliffhangers - for example in the UK in August, we saw the episode where the Sutherlands were tapped down a mine and Tasha's mother was revealed as being Angie Russell. This was the 2003 Season Finale.
Now, you may have noticed that on that episode there was a two-minute recap shown in full-screen format, and over a spooky bed (rather than the riff of the theme tune) - and when the show came back, the recap was also a full-screen affair lasting for two minutes. This is because they were different seasons.
Usually the recap shows what storylines are going to be continued that evening, and therefore the recap shows what happened last time those storylines were in the programme - they're not neccesarily what happened the previous evening.
However, Five does not stop at the end of a season, it simply carries on with the next one. Because we essentially therefore show more eps a year than Australia does, this has allowed us to catch up by nearly 4-5 months since the show came back to Channel 5. Before leaving ITV the show was only 4 episodes behind, meaning we were a year behind upon the return on Channel 5 due to ITV's opt-out clause with Seven. (If the show changed channel, then there would have to be a minimum of a year break, with the intention of losing a large chunk of audience when the new network picked it up.) We have, however, caught up quickly although it will be a number of years before we're anywhere near Australia.
