Can anyone tell me how Ric is related to Alf in the show, I know he is his Grand father, but how?

The 4000th Episode of Home and Away airs on monday here in New Zealand! but ive already seen it!!

Alf had an affair with Viv Standish (aka The Guv who was in prison with Dani) when they were both teenagers. After they split she had a son (Ric's father) who was adopted out. Alf knew nothing of this until Viv told him just before she died. Alf discovered that his son was Ric's father, but he didn't get to meet him as he died the same day Alf found out.
