Thank you Gavin, for your input - very much appreciated.
Benjamin, I can assure you that during the final few months of Families (when it became solely British based) it was on at 1710 and the final 3 episodes were shown on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday at 1710 with the omnibus being on Thursday between 1040pm and 1210pm. As I said, I wasn't able to watch the 1710 episodes due to lectures, so I was watching, by the end, only the Thursday Omnibus. And it was Granada Tv and not Central as they showed it at 230pm (as it was by then!) with no omnibus
To be honest, it was a shame Granada finished Families, I am sure that they could have carried on with it on a regional basis (same as Scottish TV with High Road and then later on Carlton/Central's London Bridge)
Must admit I do still see the show advertised around the world. The countries in which I have seen it, recently (as in the last 4 years) have been Sweden, Australia, Canada, Turkey and France. Shame its not being repeated, again, on one of the ITV channels - I'm sure it would do well in a 6pm slot on ITV2 followed by London Bridge at 630pm!!!!
Anyway, this is totally off topic and lets get this thread back to being about Home and Away, the number 1 Australian soap in Australia. - Shame it doesn't get more viewers here in the UK or did the hiatus that ITV made five do really damage the vieweing figures or is it on at the wrong time?
Families was repeated on Granada Plus - i think they showed it twice all the way through. It used to be shown after Classic Corrie so i sometimes saw it. My mum used to watch it when it was on ITV in the early 1990s so i sometimes saw it with her, although to be fair it was a pretty rubbish soap, no wonder it only lasted a few years.
