Of course Five being Five, they will probably take an extended break or domething daft like that.
Five don't care about the viewers, it has proved that the way they took The Early Years off, they did it with Sons and Daughters and Sunset Beach too.
I watch Home and Away on You Tube now, at least that way I can be head to head with Australia.

Apparently its taken 8 weeks off this year in Oz so when we reach the point of the start of the 2008 season over here we will only be about 5 weeks behind.

Actually its 2001 so 7 years ago, and its surely the Early Year of Home and Away on Five They dont have the rights to any episodes before they took over screening H&A.
Well Sons and Daughters and Sunset Beach (2nd time around) were getting poor viewing figures during daytime. They did show the rest of Sons and Daughters at 5.00am.
Five may have no chance to take it off for an extended break as we will be very close to Oz episodes.

Well Home and Away keeps it's 6pm slot on Five, and presumably it's 6.30pm "first chance" slot on Five Life too, considering they'll only be airing Neighbours "catch up".
It's moved from 12noon though to 2.15pm, after Neighbours. As it looks like Neighbours will be premiering episodes in the 1.45pm slot, I wonder if Home and Away's scheduling pattern will be changed too so episodes premiere at 2.15pm rather than 6pm.
Also Neighbours is getting an omnibus on Five at 12.30pm on Saturday, so that presumably means the Five Life H&A omnibus will be on the move as that airs around that time.

It would make sense for Five to also air the lunchtime H&A as the same episode they get at teatime if thats the format Neighbours will be taking.
Interesting that Neighbours will be getting an omnibus on Five itself not just Five Life which H&A get. I get the impression Neighbours will be the more important of the 2 soaps to the channel.
