Not really, when you consider the times when the 2 soaps are shown. Neighbours is hown on 10 Network at 6pm (very early evening), how many viewers do any of the UK networks get at that time of evening. Meanwhile Home and Away is shown on 7 Network at 7pm more akin to Emmerdale's type of ratings.

It's funny how an hours difference can influence the viewing figures.

Please note these times were correct of last November, when I was in Australia, they may not now be the case.

Neighbours is actually on at 6.30pm AEST, Big Brother follows at 7pm competing with Home and Away.

lol its ok, dont suppose if you know weather it goes out across the whole of Australia at the same time - im sure their is about 3 time zones in Australia

I know Neighbours is shown straight after The Simpsons - but I assumed it was the same time, no matter which part of the country - dependent on the Time Zones.

When i download Neighbours episodes from Oz, the promos at the end normally say "6.30 tomorrow" - also would you say the Neighbours promos are very misleading...sorry to go off topic.

Ive gotten back into H&A, use to watch it now and again, i do remember it on ITV though, im sure it was this...

Neighbours is shown at 6.30pm local time, it's delayed in South Australia, Northern Territory and Western Australia, same applies to almost anything (except major news stories).
It gets more complicated when daylight saving returns later this year. WA and Queensland don't follow the other states (Tasmania switches a couple of weeks earlier then everyone else due to them wanting as much sun as possible).

Also, while Neighbours doesn't get as many viewers usually it gets the majority of its targeted audience (16-39s) and the fact that it's a huge success overseas keeps it afloat.

In UTV land we always had Home and Away at 5:10 with UTV live at Six, for a full hour.

If you where lucky enough in them days to pick up RTE you could then watch it six months ahead of the UK, on RTE 2 at 6:30.
But the 6:30 on RTE clashed with Neigbours on BBC 1 in NI.
