I see the promo campaign is also being aired on other channels too - I saw it on ITV4 the other night, though think it's something like a 30-second version.

A tough act to follow last Christmas's episodes, but though this year's Christmas Day might not live up to next years, it should stand up well against the "big three" - with a long anticipated storyline finally being revealed on screen.

I watched it Christmas Eve - in some ways it was far better than last years Christmas episode IMO.

It must be a first - character leaves one day, titles updated the next!

All the recent additions seem accounted for, though filmed infront of a black background which doesn't really fit with the rest of the titles.

Some new shots too for some of the rest of the cast - notably Justin and Sarah, who now closes the titles.

And now Bernice from Emmerdale has turned up!

Watched them again a couple of times and there does seem to be one absentee - no Summer.

Hope this doesn't mean she's leaving sooner rather than later - she's one of the best new characters in the show for a few years.

P.S. Gilly is still in them despite having "left", so expect him back - but no Beth.

Both Beth and Summer though feature heavily in the new promo.

Her accent is very different than her Emmerdale one, I thought she played Bernice well in Emmerdale, so hopefully she might bring that same sarcastic charm to Hollyoaks.

Yes - is wasn't anywhere as near as annoying in Emmerdale!

I think though she will suffer from Sinbad syndrome and will forever play the character of "Bernice from Emmerdale", however long she sticks around.

Great E4 episode tonight revealing (to those of us who didn't know) the identity of the Ashworth's nemisis!

Unusually also tonight they had a scene before the opening titles. It's likely they've done it on occasions in the past, but certainly not since the new titles came in nearly a year ago - so I wonder if it's a one-off or whether it'll continue with next weeks episodes.

I couldn't help thinking that too. At first I thought they were playing the wrong bit, as the scene in question had nothing to do with the previous episode.

Anyway the E4 episode was good tonight, things should pick up with it next week.

He was doomed the minute he was born really, but Jake and Nancy are set to be devistated by the news that Charlie is suffering from Lukemia - which presumably handily brings the issue of Charlie's real father back into the frame.
