That article goes on to tell us now the only real houses on set are the Ashworths and Ste and Amy's new place.

I think even the Ashworth's place has been given some tweaks we weren't expected to notice. Clearly it is identifiable as the Hunter's old house on the inside but I recently made an observation about the front door. In the Hunters' day it was a terrace which opened out onto a main street, but when John-Paul recently called to visit Hannah it was as if the main entrance had suddenly relocated, and a front garden or driveway had suddenly appeared.

I think you're right - IIRC there was something different.

Interior wise for ages it was left full of grafitti from a party the Hunters had shortly before they moved out - I think it's only in the last few months that has been removed.

Where exactly is the Hollyoaks set - is it basically round the corner from Brookside close. I know they use the old Brookside parade as the SU amongst other things, but was that itself located anywhere near the Brookie close?

no it's in childwall.

Indeed. The original Brookside Close is in West Derby, where Mersey TV were based until they relocated to their current home in 1990. Brookside Parade, ironically supposed to be behind the close, was actually at Childwall and the former parade is now one half the Hollyoaks SU Bar, one half the Grange Hill Creative Learning Centre. Too wide a shot in either show would result in elements of the other appearing on screen.

Back to Hollyoaks, if you fancy a laugh try finding out the identity of the village's new Police Community Support Officer!

I know on some of the backstage videos on the Hollyoaks site you can clearly see Grange Hill school in the background, next I think to the college entrance.

P.S. Off topic, but Is Grange Hill actually returning or has that been quietly dropped by CBBC? I think the last series only aired on the CBBC channel.

Grange Hill returns for its 31st series in January - on the CBBC Channel only. It will now focus on the lower years of secondary school to meet CBBC's 6-12 remit.

Rare praise for Hollyoaks from the Daily Mail: More specifically, Jaci Stephen:

This week saw the best writing and acting in the show's history. Emma Rigby's brilliant performance as Hannah Ashworth has taught me more than any drama or documentary on anorexia has ever done. I actually cried when she was telling Rhys about her struggle: trying her best to get better, but recognising another anorexic on the strret and feeling envious of her body. But it was also a wek of great humour - Steph's 'acting' in Zoe's film, hilarious - and the always delightful Carmel. Truly great stuff.

From Saturday's TV magazine, apparently.

I'm not sure praise from the Daily Mail should be considered a good thing! Wink

P.S. BTW, Chris Fountain (Justin) is rumoured to be in the line up for Dancing on Ice, though I don't think the character is going anywhere soon as...

The big storyline over the next few months does surround Jake and Nancy - rumoured to culminate in the true identity of Charlie's father being revealed.

You may be right there. For weeks the Mail has been promising us an article and photoshoot with Emma Rigby in You Magazine, but I found out today the said photoshoot features Emma cavorting round in a school uniform!

Quite what the point of that is I don't know, as in the show Emma has left school. So what this could possibly be about...

Allow me to explain: Some people with *normal* (read: non-twerpulent) urges find the saucy school uniform look attractive.

I could well understand the likes of the Daily Star kitting out young actresses or Girls Aloud in school uniform to entertain their male audience but with the Daily Mail, a paper which likes to think it has more class, it has no sense. In any case I'm still looking forward to the article; this is an actress who I think is going places and it would be good to find out more about her.

[[ Mod (edit) note: I'm sure someone will notice that a number of subsequent posts made have been removed from the topic. It is clear that some individuals are attempting to provoke a reaction out of a specific member. I'm sure none of those concerned have been idiots in assuming mods/admin haven't been reading recent posts on Metropol. Please kindly stop hi-jacking threads on TVForum for such purposes. ]]

Well, like the tv forum mod team, at the heart of every Daily Mail reader lies hypocrisy and double standards...
