Re: soap awards. Looking at those categories Hollyoaks should walk away with most of them, but I doubt they will of course!

I'm sticking to the line the soap awards mean sweet FA! I might change my mind if Hollyoaks get the awards they deserve, but then as usual their success will probably be completly devalued if EastEnders wins best soap.

In your opinion they do, but IMO Corrie has been far better and more consistent than Hollyoaks this year.

So you will be happy if Hollyoaks wins several awards then even if you think the soap awards are meaningless?

Maybe he means if he agrees with the result then they're not meaningless. Confused

Having said that, I'd like to see Hollyoaks walk away with the quite a few of the awards including the big prize. I'd like to see Sue Cleaver win Best Actress though - an accolade long overdue if you ask me.

I know, but saying the awards are meaningless unless your favourite wins. We all want our fave's to win but that doesnt mean the awards are meaningless if they dont.

Yeah Hollyoaks deserve a few awards as I said when I gave my list, but not the big prize by a long way.

I dont mind Sue Cleaver but im not a huge fan - personally id have picked Alison, Sally and in particular Julia from Corrie. Out of those chosen id probabaly pick Sue to win, but like I said im not particularly a fan.

I'd choose Sue over Alison. Alison's good but not a patch on Sue IMO! But I think we're going off-topic now. Laughing

I'm just not that bothered either way really - especially if EastEnders get top soap.

I disagree with Jez regarding Corrie - I think it's had a relatively poor year - not so much it's been a bad year, just not an excellent year.

I'd definately say over the last 12 months Hollyoaks has been better, and it's probably no coincidence that the last 12 months or so have been in the control of all the people poached from Corrie!

I'd like to see John Paul and Carmel get something, plus something for the fire episodes.

I see Tom Cunningham is nominated in the young person category again, though I don't think he deserves the award myself.

Also, Mandy's exit is nominated - I don't really remember her exit, didn't she just sleep with Dom and bugger off or something!

I remember the episode she left, they opened with some footage of her time on the show, with "Even God cant change the past" playing. Tony tracked her down and tried to talk things through, but Mandy i think decided it was time for a new start and walked off into the distance along a river/canal.

Correct me if im wrong Smile

I agree. Corrie has been very weak and needs a good kick up the backside. Hollyoaks' renaissance under Bryan Kirkwood has seen the show deservedly receiving far more attention than it has been used to - I think Corrie needs to see a similar revamp - with characters ditched and new writers drafted in. I'm not saying the show is in trouble, but it has seen a significant drop in quality since the end of 2004.

Well we all have our different opinions - you like Hollyoaks and I like Corrie. I like both of them but Corrie will always be my favourite. Id like to see Hollyoaks fire get an award in the spectacular scene category, but Best Episode should be Tracy's confession which was an excellent 2 hander.

I dont think she slept with Dom? Wasnt he a virgin until he got together with Tina? I think Dom had feelings for Mandy and they kissed and then Mandy just left. Nothing very excting really considering she was in it for so long.

Alison King is an excellent actress, she was great in Dream Team, but its still early days for her in Corrie. Im looking forward to seeing her character develop more following Paul's death.

I disagree. Corrie IMO has certainly not been weak this past year. Early-Mid 2005 I agree was weak but there were already signs of improvements by the Autumn 2005. 2006 was a good year and 2007 so far has been excellent and there hasnt been many episodes this year that I havent enjoyed.

We'll have to agree to disagree then. They did win the RTS award and a few critics have said it's had a good year but I just don't think it has. It's had its moments, and the two hander with Tracy and Deirdre was fantastic, as was the recent fire at the Peacocks. But there just doesn't seem to be enough of that. And I don't mean fires, affairs and murders. Just well written plots and riveting drama which is what they seemed to be so good at just a couple of years ago. Corrie is still my favourite soap and I'll forever remain fiercely loyal towards it but I can't deny that it has declined in quality.

I think the decline did actually start when Carolyn Reynolds left - and of course she's now at Hollyoaks along with Tony Wood and of course Bryan Kirkwood, who were also at Corrie during 2003 and 2004, two of the shows finest years in recent history IMO.

But once again, I'm going terribly off topic so I'll try and keep my views on Coronation Street in the dedicated thread! Laughing

I don't actually care and it hasn't even started. I'm a little bit bored of whodunnits. But if this twist is as good as they claim it is then maybe it won't be as bad as I think.

Oh, forgot about that rumour - which actually said though the actor was leaving, the character would be re-cast for a few months - though that's highly unlikely IMO!

That trailer looks great.

The logo works much better on black. I'd go as far as replacing the opening titles with a recap, the usual musical opening montage then that black title card screen.

Yep, just seeing it there it works so much better than the white background.
