Just watched the second episode - Russ is quickly overtaking Nicole as the most annoying member of the Owen family!

It was the storyline with the girls though that really stood out - a really good antidote to the main topic of these specials - and nice to see Mandy get a fun storyline for a change.

Was this post named when it was made, or was it changed later? If so, I didn't know you could do that. If it was named '... Back From the Dead' when it was made during '... Crossing the Line', it was a pretty good guess for this week's special episodes' name (even if it wasn't supposed to mean what 'Hollyoaks' mean it to mean in their title). Maybe 'M.T.V.' got the idea for the name here?

Good episode tonight

Andy's death was great, he so deserved it after his disgusting words, and the fact that he had the gall to joke about it all.

Another super-villain killed off. WHY do they never get their just desserts?

That was brilliant tonight, very well done. Im glad he got what he deserved and hopefully Mel will be able to move on now.

Exactly - they always get killed off, though I think this is one of the more gruesome deaths.

This storyline had great potential for another trial - which would have focused more on it from the victims point of view, plus Sam being worried about how he might be implicated by Andy.

Surely now we won't get another Burton accused of a murder they didn't commit?

Having said that though great episodes this week, especially last night and tonight. It was also great not knowing what the outcome of the week would be - didn't really expect Mel to show up when she did!

Andy Holt has been by far the best soap villian of recent years - far more believable than the pantomime villians EastEnders put on screen. Of course though as he is in Hollyoaks he won't get the recognition he deserves!

It's Andy's apparant normality that made him far more evil! Credit to the script-writers too who really let us get in Andy's mind and see his justification.

I wonder now if Andy will be wiped off the titles next week, considering we were promised they'd be updated as required.

(Or are we being presumptious that he's actually dead (again!) - I remember someone surviving a similar injury on 999!)

I meant to tape E4's episode so I could watch if after, so I'll just have to wait till tomorrow instead. They usually deal with these late night episodes by including lots of flashbacks.

I can't see where the Owens can go from here. Sam is certainly the central character of the family, and this week's events don't suggest he'll be able to stick around long.

So I wonder what's next for the late night specials. Since September there have been 12 late night episodes - all of which have really concentrated on this one storyline and I think anyone who doesn't watch the main show could have quite easily followed this storyline from just the late night episodes.

I imagine they'll be more late night specials later in the year, probably during the Summer.

(Rob - Yes I did change the title - I suppose I'll have to change it again now! And with the improvements since I opened this thread, Hollyoaks is most certainly Back from the Dead (or the life support machine at least!))

I think the way he died was definately a better punishment for what he did that going to jail for years would have been. What a horrible death. And I think with Justin's trial only a few months back we have had enough trials recently.

It will be interesting to see if they remove Andy from the credits - im surprised they included him in the first place as he was only in it for about a month after the credits were introduced anyway. They are so slow updating them and in the past characters have stayed on them for more than a year before being removed.

I hope Andy/Warren gets some sort of award at the soapies this year but yes because he is in a smaller soap I doubt he will get Villan of the Year.

Well, no change to the credits. I notice Danni is also still on them having left weeks ago.

The following episodes didn't do the usual flashback thing (except a brief shot at the beginning) - you just had to piece together the info yourself (though anyone watching E4 last night would have got a major spoiler).

Must say credit to the girl who plays Nicole - she's done a great job this week.

As for the British Soap Awards - by rights Hollyoaks deserve at least two, with Andy as Best Villian and Justin as the Best Young Actor - and that's not even mentioning the Sexiest Female award which should go without saying.

However, we know these awards have no credibility at all considering how many times EastEnders has won the Best Soap award so we know it's going to be one of the Mitchells as best villian, bloody Sonia as best young actor and probably Pat Butcher as sexiest female!

It's always tricky when voting in these - while often I'd personally give Hollyoaks a few nods, usually I end up voting for the Corrie nominees as a tactical ploy against EastEnders!

I cant say im surprised about the credits not being updated. Remember the previous set which were introduced in 2003, had people on them a year after they left the show! Home and Away updated their credits 4 Mondays in a row recently, but I suppose they have to as the actors names are listed on there unlike Hollyoaks.

As for the soap awards - I totally agree, because of the way the voting goes in the past im sure Eastenders will win most of the awards this year. I usually vote Corrie but i'll definately be voting Andy in the villan category, he is a much better villan. Sexiest Female and Male is often someone from Eastenders too, but last year I was really surprised to see Debbie from Hollyoaks win Sexiest Female, not because I didnt think she deserved it but because not enough people normally vote Hollyoaks. Chris Fountain for Best Young Actor definately, and its voted by a panel so he stands a chance.

Yes the late ones are better because they are exactly what they say "specials". The normal ones vary depending on the storylines but like most soaps its on too much each week so becomes boring on times.
