I can't believe i'm about to say this, but i started tapping my feet when the opening credits came on! I guess these are definatly a grower. I think that going into and out of break the music should be different - to give it more of a dramatic effect.

I think there are a few variants of it.
I wonder if they've recorded a "sombre" version of the theme. There was one of the old Hollyoaks theme - and though it sounded quite different to the main theme, musically it was in the same sort of style so would seem quite out of place with the new theme.
P.S. The updated website - as usual "new look" means "content cut"!
The next development with his character seems to be a potential relationship with Claire
Best version of the new titles I've found: Google Video
Agree about the site - alot of content seems to have gone. All the preview and backstage stuff is now only in video format, while the cast pages list about 8 people so far - I've counted 34 in the titles!
"News" isn't trendy anymore so all that is confined to a "blog",

NEW SITES AND SOUNDS
By Nick Mann, Tue, 27th February 2007
HOLLYOAKS has a new look, a new sound and now… a new site to boot. Well, nearly. We’ve had the builders in and they’ve not quite finished yet, but have a nosey around at what we’ve got so far. This is our latest feature, a shiny new blog written by Abi and myself. We’re the editorial team, and we’ll bring you the latest from the HOLLYOAKS set in two daily instalments.

HOLLYOAKS producer Bryan Kirkwood popped in yesterday ahead of the launch, and told me, “It’s taken forever! I totally sympathise with viewers’ frustrations at having them on-screen, out of date, for so long. We’ve been working on this new sequence since the middle of 2006; it’s a very lengthy process.”
ENERGETIC
I asked Bryan how he briefed the team for the sequence; “I think in thirty seconds you’re really giving viewers a taste of what’s to come. I wanted a title sequence that’s energetic, glamorous and young, and reflected the fact that we’ve got the best looking cast on British TV.”
And as for the theme:

As for the music, it’s back to basics. The original HOLLYOAKS theme has been given a re-working by Mark Beaney, a student at the Liverpool Institute Of Performing Arts. We’ll bring you more on that over the next couple of days, so watch this space.

The site seems to be down at the moment, so I guess the builders have gone through a mains power cable (as they do)
Over a million viewers on E4 again last night - 1.029m to be precise, compared to 1.8m for the C4 episode.
Re: the pregnancy storyline - glad the Barnes are at the centre of the storyline again, probably the best "oldies" in the show.
Kathy seems to have taken to grandmotherhood far too nicely IMO though, but we have seen glimpses of the character we love to hate! I'm waiting for the showdown with Josh's mum!
well i'm loving the new titles, they definitely work much better than the blue one's we had before! as for noticeable absences, although mercedes is in the main titles why isn't she in the break sting with the rest of the mcqueen family?
I'm not sure that the titles fit for what Hollyoaks has become over the past year. Bryan Kirkwood certainly changed Hollyoaks into a more "respectable" soap/drama with some very good storylines. Just as the content was going good, the new music/titles seem to have kicked it in the teeth.
Like someone said over on the C4 forums, its like they want it to be prime time Grange Hill.
