Wouldn't be sad to see the back of the scene after the credits either.

No - that has to stay as it's something of a Hollyoaks tradition - and the best way to get people to read the credits IMO.

As long as they remain short and silent they work well - there was a period a few months ago when they seemed to be a full scene and that doesn't work, but otherwise they round off the episode perfectly.

I think a "Previously..." would suit Hollyoaks well, but wouldn't be too disapointed if we didn't get it as they quite often incorporate anything major you need to know in the opening scenes anyhow.

Agree the ending before the credits needs sorting out - never been keen on the freeze frame and they seem to randomly use that little rift at the beginning - sometimes having it build up in the final scene, sometimes starting it when the scene ends and quite often dropping it all together and going straight into the main theme.

I guess we'll find out tomorrow - and knowing my look the weather will knock out my digital signal completly and I won't be able to see it!

That can't happen two Fridays on a row though! So annoyed last week - lost all the C4 stations but still had E4+1 at 7pm - but by 8pm that had gone too! Always happens on a Friday too when you have to wait the weekend for the C4 airing!

Ah i see Razz

Does anyone know if Mandy visits Max while shes visiting?

No - conveniantly Max and Tom are "away" - which is a shame. I'd have liked to have seen a cat fight with Claire too.

Anyhow...
Little Tom Cunningham is about to follow in his big sisters footsteps as he enters the world of modelling!

I suppose that's true.

Not sure what you mean by a 'little rift' are you referring to the use of music over the end scene(s) that is suddenly and abruptly cut for the credits? I'd like them to edit it (and the song if necessary) to end properly and a fade to black, then the credits and theme music, obviously.

Speaking of which, I am very excited about the updated music. It's been the same longer than the titles have.

Could someone please tell me what the attraction is of a 'previously' section? Why do we need one in a daily soap opera anyway?

The new theme is long over due. Wonder whether it's a reworking of this one or of the original - hoping it's the latter.

The current theme was first used for much forgotten late-night spin-off series "Hollyoaks: Movin' On", which featured Tony, Ruth, Finn and Lewis.

IIRC that didn't have actual opening titles, so the theme was just used over the credits - and was then slightly toned-down to be used for the main show. It be around 2001/2002 it was introduced on the main show.

From the previews it looks like the opening titles will be quite similar to Hollyoaks: In the City - which isn't a bad thing really as they worked well. I just hope the balance of characters is right - it wouldn't be right to use just a handful of characters to represent the 30-40 in the cast.

Ah shame, Mandy vs Clare would have been great!

Right, i've used the Hollyoaks tune to create a bed that could be used for the "previouly bit". I know its edited badly, but what do you all think.

I wonder why we got black end credits again tonight?

Yes I dont think we need one either - its on 5 days a week so its not like there is a huge gap between episodes so we forget what happened.

Yes, but like with Neighbours/H&A with it being on all the time it is more likely that you will miss episodes. With these being the studenty type soaps there is more chance that a couple of days a week you might be pre-occupied doing something else, rather than the major soaps like Corrie/Eastenders which have far more dedicated followers who have watched it every monday at 7:30 for the past two decades for example.

832,900 watched E4 first look last night. That has got to be one of the higest for first look episode of Hollyoaks.

Well, with that cliffhanger I'm not surprised.

Although of course the after effects of the story will continue, it does seem there has been some closure on some storylines in advance of the new look tonight.

Obviously the stories will continue, but they all move on to the next phase - most notably with Amy's pregnancy.
