For some reason those new titles reminds me of ITV's MoM ident being in the same colour. I havent seen the new tites in full yet.

Also, re: Macki's mate - was he ever seen with him when he was alive?

Cant claim to watch every single episode but ive never seen him in it when Macki was alive. I guess they had to bring one of Macki's gang in though for the trial.

As for the clearout - well, it's being done in dribs and drabs. Only Lee remains of the Hunters, and he'll be off to Emmerdale soon. Cameron and Zara rumoured to be leaving at Christmas. Other names rumoured for the axe are Darren, plus Richard and Darlene - which depending on the trial, will probably see them go in the next couple of weeks.

Cant say i'll be sorry to see Lee, Cameron, Richard and Darren leave. Shame about Zara, she is the last of the Morgan's, one of the best families in Hollyoaks.

Wednesdays episode (shown last night on E4) is fantastic, with Justin and Becca in the dock. One of the best episodes in a long time.

Shame C4 didn't bother promoting the trial - I notice ratings are only slightly up on C4, but they've jumped by 100,000 or so on E4 to around 350,000.

I missed E4's episode last night so will have to make sure I tape it on C4 tonight, and then E4's episode.

I wondered how ratings have been affected on Channel 4 with the show going out on E4 the evening before.

A good episode tonight (or tomorrow - so I won't go into detail), though I think the highlight of the week was when Justin and Becca took the stand.

I won't spoil the outcome (though next weeks TV guides do!), but it's the end to a fantastic storyline.

Also this week the "comedy storyline" with Josh and Fletch has all been about the mysterious Beast of Hollyoaks. I'm wondering now whether the urban legend could prove to be a convenient way of getting rid of some unwanted cast members in the future!

The trial was brilliant this week, even though I knew the outcome before it saw it, it was great.

Someone on DS forums has said that there will be another week of Hollyoaks late night specials - it looks like they will be running from Mon-Thurs like the last lot, week commencing Monday 5th December. Its called "No Going Back" and it looks like Andy will be found out.

Be a shame if the show lost Andy so quickly, but I guess the story calls for it - though he could be a Rob Hawthorne style villian that comes back every few months!

I'm guessing these late night specials are the reason Let Loose was cut by one episode.

P.S. No ratings for Friday yet but Thursday's E4 showing of the First Look episode featuring the verdict had 503,000, double it's usual audience.

The C4 audience is still hovering around the 2m mark!

SPOILER ALERT:

We know Lee is off to Emmerdale, but is Bombhead going as well. This week's main storyline is about him meeting his dad, and the preview for next week says Bombhead flies out of the Village.

It's quite obvious they are now trying to build up Josh and Fletch as the next Lee and Bombhead / Max and OB!

More on the late night episodes.

Andy's latest date-rape conquest will be the main storyline, with suspicion growing and Sam becoming more involved.

The secondary storyline will feature the new characters as Rhys, Gilly, Olivia and Jessica go off to a country retreat to find their innerselves!

The first edition of No Going Back was rather good - far better than the first couple of episodes of Crossing the Line earlier this year.

They got into the storyline straight away, with the hippy commune thing providing a good light alternative to the heavyweight main subject.

Also good how they left it unclear whether Sam had accepted Andy's "present" or not!

I think these episodes show how Hollyoaks has improved dramatically since the last late-night special.

The whole racism storyline culminating in Justin's trial and the current date-rape storyline are Hollyoaks at it's best.

Throw in the storylines of Bombhead joining the circus and Cameron's OCD storyline alongside the lighter day to day stuff and Hollyoaks is better than it's been for at least a year.

The new characters are also far more promising than the last intake, though I do think they need to have some stronger older characters (i.e. over 21). It seems the Owen's have replaced the Hunters but the Ashworth parents have hardly been seen since they moved in.

The first late night episode last night was brilliant IMO. Much better than the last lot. I liked the way the storyline carried on from the 6.30pm episode. The drug rape storyline has been handled really well (Hollyoaks always do these kind of storylines well). It was quite disturbing the way Andy drew a 13 on her and said unlucky for some -I assume she is his 13th victim. The scenes with Danni, Louise and Russ were also really well acted.

I wasnt looking forward to the storyline with the hippy commune, however I was surprised that it was actually entertaining and a nice contrast to the main storyline.

Its also good that the 7pm first look eps on E4 dont have the characters from the late night episodes so it doesnt spoil it like the last lot of late night specials. Although I might watch Thursday's E4 episode on Friday on C4.

Btw I read that Zara and Lee leave the show together over Christmas. Zara is quite a long running character compaired to some, having been there since 1999. I think only Mandy, Max, Jack, OB and Tony have been there longer.

A good follow up tonight, and really the hippy stuff kind of took centre stage by providing the light relief. Quite good to see the main new characters getting a high profile storyline so soon.

No Danni or Louise in tonight's episode, but the stuff between Sam, Andy and Russ was really good - especially Russ pointing out Sam's difficulties with women - using many arguments that are often linked to rapists.

From the presentation point of view, it's a shame now that the late-night specials don't get their own titles (or remix of the theme) as early versions did - and I don't think the opening "credits" work that well now with the revamped titles as the old-fashioned white text just doesn't seem right after the new look light blue titles.
