Well its not really surprising that viewing figures went up during and after the explosion storyline. The real test will be whether they can keep the figures high.

It varies from night to night, but around 300,000 watch on E4 too - plus I think the Sunday omnibus adds a significant number too.

I do think though the show does deserve to do slightly better - they should be aiming for a regular 3-4m. C4 certainly didn't take the opportunity to try and inherit Family Affairs audience when it finished!

Could Channel 4/ Mersey TV not get some of the stars of Hollyoaks onto shows like...

-This Morning
-GMTV
- Paul O'Grady Show

and so on. It would be nice if when talking about the soaps on This Morning and GMTV they could include a snippet about whats happening in Hollyoaks.

Considering the ignorance they show towards Hollyoaks they don't deserve to have them as guests.

The only time I've really seen them on is when talking about issues. I think Mandy was on This Morning in relation to the Post Natal Depression storyline, and similarly with Lisa and the self halm storyline.

Paul O'Grady's a possibility - but C4 haven't really used it to promote their own shows and I can't believe Paul watches it, so it be a bit fake.

T4 have them on regularly though - but other traditional outlets such as Saturday morning TV are disappearing.

It's C4's own publicity machine that needs to do the work really - the show needs a big push from C4 and as I said before, a promo campaign based around "Meet the McQueens" would be a good place to start.

I also remember way back in 2000 when Luke was raped they included Hollyoaks for the first time in their soap preview on This Morning. I believe they dont include it regularly because its gets far less viewers than the main 3 soaps.

So Becca's mum arrived tonight - has she been in before, and if so was it the same actress? (This one isn't blonde and is old enough to be her mother!)

I think I vaguely remember Jake and Becca going to her parents a couple of years ago.

I didnt think she had been in it, but now you mention it Brekkie, im sure I remember them going to her parents too!

It was a good episode on E4 tonight though with Becca's mum thinking Foz was her boyfriend and being so horrified to realise it was Justin!

And also the guest appearance of Tony's porno film - must be a good few years since that storyline!

Loose Women had Phil Olivier on Mons show, it was advertised as members of hollyoaks cast by an announcer earlier in the day, when really it was just a rushed interview about Hollyoaks in the City.

Thought it was too good to be true, itv chat shows talking about the C4 show.

Yes they do occasionally get the Hollyoaks cast as guests on ITV daytime shows but not as much as the bigger soaps.

ITV Daytime isn't really the audience they should be going for though!

The Hollyoaks cast have always been regulars on Saturday morning TV - but we all know what's happening to that.

T4 would be their biggest promotional outlet, but apart from that I guess it be press and radio. I know during the Lisa self-halming storyline that Gemma Atkinson featured alot on Radio 1's Sunday Surgery.

Press wise it's generally either rumoured romances or getting their kit off that gets them in the national press - but though they set foot in Chester as little as possible to film, they do use the local press well and in our local paper (which has Wrexham and Chester editions) there are features once or twice a month on the show.

The cast also do quite alot of PAs too - from nightclubs to charity football matches - and unlike some not just the big celebrity tournaments!
