In the City has a smaller cast with few people appearing in each episode so its possible for them to do titles based on who is in that episode. With the main Hollyoaks, new titles would be good as long as they updated them every time someone left (like on Home and Away)

Exactly - and when they relaunched them last year they promised they would update them!

If they can do it weekly for In the City, they can do it when neccessary for Hollyoaks - it's only two or three times a year really.

Since the relaunch last Autumn Danni left around Christmas, Andy in February, shortly followed by Sam and then Mandy - and then they could have been left until the explosion.

I think they could have got away with an update after Andy left, replacing the Andy/Sam pic and the Danni/Russ pic - and then a further update when Mandy left just switching the scene of Tony and Mandy for Tony and Dom, and perhaps changing the Jake and Becca scene too.

And then after the explosion I'd personally have replaced all the images (if not the whole titles), but if the titles had been updated throughout the year they'd have only had to change the Sophie/Mel and Olivia/Jess images, replacing them with some of the new characters.

Maybe Hollyoaks should be like the other British Soaps and do titles without people on them. Corrie for example didnt update their titles for 15 years because they didnt really need to!

If they do insist on having characters in the titles the least they can do is update them.

I've said several times they shouldn't just give in and do that - the nature of the show and audience means the titles themselves need updating regularly, but they just need to sort out the updating characters situation.

Alternatively ditch the titles and just open with "Previously..." segment back by a Hollyoaks bed before crashing straight into the opening music segment.

Loved the scenes with all the McQueen's together tonight - putting them together showed how different all the characters really are.

I do wish though the show got more promotion - the explosion episode was heavily advertised (though I don't think it was rewarded in the ratings), but it's been a while since the show had a major advertising campaign - and to base one around the McQueen sisters would be a good place to start.

Yes some good scenes with the McQueen family in both the C4 and E4 episodes tonight. All 5 sisters are completely different!

Amy Barnes has also been doing well with the pregnancy storyline - and after today's show it's a case of "did she or didn't she?"

Must say though the kids on In the City seem to be a better bunch of characters - the current school kids in the main show aren't used as well as the likes of Lee, Abby and co. used to be - though they have been boosted in number over recent months, so maybe they'll be used more now.

I assumed that Amy did, unless there will be a twist in the storyline.

Its a shame they got rid of Candy, Paula and Nathan from before - they were good but didnt really get a chance.

I never really check the viewing figures - how much has it gone up by?

At last, next week's listings give us the news we've all been waiting for.

Tony is leaving Hollyoaks - but is it for good?

Which unfortunately suggests is probably isn't!

Anyhow, loving all the McQueen stuff at the moment - best addition to the show in a few years!

I very much doubt Tony will leave for good - he is the only one who has been there since the start so it would have been reported on if he was. And I hope he doesnt go because as annoying as he can be its nice to have at least one original character in the show.

I wouldnt say the McQueen's are the best arrivals in years, we havent really seen enough yet to judge.

Well from around May - August, Hollyoaks was roughly getting between 1.4 - 1.7million a night, varing.

4th Sept : 1.757m
5th Sept : 1.63m
6th Sept : 1.630m
7th : 1.635m
8th : No Data from C4 Sales (2 eps)

11th : 2.193m
12th : 2.066m
13th: 2.165m
14th : 2.129m
