I've heard it's
Tina who dies

Either way, the great McQueen family will be decimated!!

So as I'm sure you're all aware...

Craig Dean returns next week.

Yet he didn't return for his sister's wedding or step-dads funeral. Soap families hey!

11 days later

Excellent episode on Friday when Keiron topped himself - with a little help of course from Niall.

The follow up scenes in the next episode were great too, especially when...

Niall collapse in tears in Myra's arms

but the episode seemed badly chopped together. This storyline dominated the first part, but then three or four other (filler) scenes were introduced in the second half and didn't really sit comfortably.

Re : E4

So has Bernice from Emmerdale left for good? That came a bit out of the blue, but her leaving on the spot with no notice was very much in tune with her character.

Danny also leaves this week - seems like they waited until they filmed the wedding episodes before sacking David Judge.

And as it's September, anyone know if there are any new students joining the cast? I don't think there's been any for a couple of years since Zoe and co. arrived. Talking of which, isn't it time evil Will made a comeback.

Seems I'm talking to myself, but they didn't wait until they filmed the wedding episodes after all.

Disappointed though with how they've handled the Keiron situation. Apart from about half an episode after JP discovered him they seemed to forget the storyline, and then we're supposed to believe that the funeral is arranged for the same day of the wedding so John Paul doesn't go.

Anyhow, more new blood set to arrive according to Digital Spy, with a family based around Ravi and Lena, plus Kris's and Malachy's mother.

Today's C4 ep had the closest thing yet to a genuine "previously on Hollyoaks" section at the start with clips of the previous episode. It worked quite well, wonder if it was a trial to see how that might work in future. I do like Hollyoaks's unique intros, but like many have said before a "previously" section would do well as a refresher sometimes for storylines that have been ignored for weeks on end.

Also does anyone know the real reason behind Val's departure? Is she gone for good. I hope not, she had potential after she'd settled down and I don't remember reading she was leaving, but now Danny has gone, it's a convincing enough excuse to keep her out of it because he's never coming back now,and it would be wierd if she turned up without her son. Seems unfortunate timing really, with Danny being sacked the next episode

They quite often include some sort of recap in the opening scene for two-part episodes - and I think Hollyoaks have it right really. If they introduced a regular Previously... segment we wouldn't see these kind of recaps.

I hadn't heard anything about Bernice from Emmerdale leaving either, but considering they're bringing in new "oldies" it doesn't look like she'll be returning in the short term at least, which is a shame because she was a great character.

Seems to me quite convenient timing as Val leaving meant they could easily write Danny out of it.

Not for the character of Val though, which is the point I was making.

I do think her going without any notice though was very much in keeping with her character.

She could return without Danny though, or with a new Danny. Or they might recast Sonny instead - though as they're basically the same character either would be fine.

I wonder then if it was the wedding episodes that were the last straw for the Hollyoaks producers - I guess turning up late on set can be worked around, but when it comes to location shoots it causes real problems. Can't say though you could really tell if the episodes had to be rewritten.

I would agree that it was in keeping with character - except apart from the month or so after she arrived she's done very little to develop the character, except show a few glimpses of potential once every 20 episodes. Maybe the actress was tired of how little screentime she got compared to other oldies like Myra and Barnsey and even Leo! Just idle speculation though.

I'd guess the episode was rewritten quite a bit though, since they made such a big deal about the best man thing last week, that Danny would probably have said something at the episode. Couldn't particularly tell though
