Doesn't look like the door is being left open for Max then as he'll become the 527th Cunningham to be killed off, though I guess he could always return as a ghost like his dad. Unfortunately I guess this, along with Mandy and Cindy returning, means Tom is sticking around.

It's Niall that kills him off too, and also in that episode he exposes John Paul and Keiron's affair too. It'll air on Friday 27th June.

So they really pushed the Eli storyline to another level this week leading up to the reveal, taking it more from an innocent "imaginary friend" to something more schizophrenic.

Should be a good few weeks for Hollyoaks from Monday with the wedding and the aftermath which follows, including the return of

Also...

The surrogacy storyline comes to a conclusion as Niall attacks Tina and she goes into premature labour.

Brekkie, is this your exclusive BLOG now, or have you forgotten the "edit button" when you want to add an after-thought to your previous post?

Back to the point :
I believe our own Gav pointed out the potential scenario between Newt and Eli before anyone else thought of it, quite some time ago IIRC.
(I believed him then, of course)

Niall is going to suddenly become a proper villain.

Won't he go to jail for like. KILLING Max?

Of course not - but you can guarantee he'll meet a nasty end himself as is soap law.

I don't think he's a proper villain yet...

Isn't him killing Max an accident rather than intentional?

My bad! It was indeed Hyma who spotted it first, not Gav.

It was so obvious when Hyma first suggested - and it's refreshing that for once it's a twist which was pretty much kept secret. Apart from a hint by Bryan Kirkwood in an interview with Digital Spy, it was never confirmed completely and I don't think it was highlighted in the previews of this week.

Considering though Eli will be back at some point in the future - they're not going to just leave the storyline at that.

Yeah, Mandy's back! Laughing

So Max and Steph are catholic now then?

So another one bites the dust - and a great exit for a great character. Especially good to see virtually all of Max's family and OB (that are still alive) back for the event too.
