That's the way I'm thinking too - it does seem to have somewhat taken the importance of his departure away.

I think it's a shame that OB's exit has been overshadowed by the Summer gimmick.

Great couple of episodes to end the week, and good to see it's now OB that's the focus of the leaving storyline, not Summer. Also Rachel from Emmerdale is back as Hollyoaks' resident registrar!
It'll be a year next week since the big revamp and it's fair to say the show has gone from strength to strength in the last 12 months, so much so it can afford to be losing one of it's most established characters. And they've managed to keep updating the titles too, and will have to again in the next couple of weeks or so.
Talking of that, has anyone seen that promo at all since Christmas? Both Summer and OB were in it, but presumably they'd be a version with them edited out.
I'd have thought though they'd have been airing it alot more often - surely they wouldn't have gone to all that effort and then just air the promo for a couple of weeks.

Some great episodes this week - especially liking the stuff between Newt and Darren. The siege looks like it'll be a good couple of episodes too - and unlike the numerous Brookside sieges this has been set up so it's pretty believable.
And what is it with Katy - now we know she's leaving she seems less annoying and actually passable as an actress.

A recap included before the titles tonight on E4, though really the titles probably should have been dropped in favour of just the logo.
For the rest of the episode only the black break bumper was used, and then simple black credits, with for once E4 keeping quiet and ditching the ECP.
Great episode though - one of the best so far this year.

I liked yesterdays Channel 4 ep ending, shame i didnt have E4 to turn to next. The ratings did well, with the E4 first look episode last night getting 1million viewers. The C4 ep got 2.2m

The first look ratings have been climbing steadily for about 12-18 months now and in that timed have tripled to achieve around 750,000 or more on a regular basis.
I think when you consider the C4 audience, the E4 first look and the T4 viewers you're talking about something like 4m viewers a week, which is a pretty respectable figure for Hollyoaks.

Fantastic exit episode from OB tonight (C4, tomorrow) - showing you don't need to be killed off to get a great departure.
The flashbacks were a great touch, especially the early scenes which remind you exactly how long they have been there, while the scenes of Max and OB saying goodbye were some of the most heartbreaking you'll ever see in what arguably is the most significant exit of a character in the shows history.
It's certainly not going to be the same without him, but thankfully the show is in very good health at the moment - and probably an inspired move to set up the Mike/Zoe fallout in the same episode.
Only complaint is unlike last week, E4 didn't keep stum over the credits!
