It's well known that Hollyoaks is going five nights a week, and in a webchat last week, Darren Jeffries (OB) revealed it'll go 5 nights a week from November 3rd
That's the day after C4's birthday - sounds like it's part of a new look lineup. When does The Simpsons launch - would that start in November as well, or do us analogue viewers have to put up with BBC2 taking it off all the time until next year?

The Simpsons rights start in 2004.

Re: Tony. I don't really understand why he is still there either, but at least they use him. The recent storyline of him accidentally hiring a hitman to kill Max and OB was brilliant!

Re: new students last year. I think Kristian was the only one, but the Dean family were introduced at that point as well.

Yes Tony is the only original character still there, he has been since Lucy left in 2000 as she was an original too. Ruth and Lewis werent originals, Lewis I think came in episode 3 (but wasnt a regular until much later) and then Ruth came in episode 11 (December 1995) and was a regular straight away.

After Tony I think Mr C has been the next longest serving as in a Hollyoaks book its say's he has been in it played by the current actor since March 1996.
Mandy has been in it since about September 1996 so is a long running character too.
